sat. fat overload?

Quote  |  Reply

lets just say that normally you eat very healthy. Fat limits under 40 grams per day, sat fat under 12. And then you go out to dinner and your meal selction has a whopping 54 grams of sat. fat. How badly will that effect your goals to lose weight?

well did you walk to the dinner? the point i am getting at is it depends how much exercise you did. although that doesn't mean you can eat what ever and do a few push ups. But one slip will not matter i suppose.

yeah, it really depends on the other stuff you are eating and what you are doing to burn off your calories.  Fat always gets nailed for ruining diets but it's out of control carbs that really get you.  Out of control carbs sneak up on you because you're not really thinking about it.  Like eating bread before or during a meal that already has a lot other starches like; corn, pasta, potatoes and sugary drinks.

Carbs also stick on you and can make you tired, less likely to be active after a heavy meal.  Fatty meals upset my stomach and unlikely to sit around.

Of course, single carb meals are different, like 1 serving of whole grain cereal, toast or juice.  But you're talking about a binge.

I would say if you're regularly exercising, you are entitled to a binge day.

From a weight standpoint Sat fat is no better or worse than un-sat fat.

Carbs = sugar , Its that simple.

*RANT* Well I've got to agree and disagree with you. First, the agreement, no matter what you eat as long as you have a deficit of calories you will lose weight. Second, the disagreement, most people on this site will want to be healthy after they lose the weight and they do this for health reason so saying saturated fat isn't better or worse than trans, poly un-sat, or mono un-sat is simply an insane statement. Trans fat is the worst with saturated fat close behind. Third, another disagreement, carbohydrates equaling sugar isn't always true as there are many healthful carbs out there and the Atkins diet has fooled many people into thinking carbs are the enemy. *END OF RANT*
