Does this save calories & sodium??
In soup, if you drain out all of the fluid, would that save you some calories and take out some sodium??

There would less of both, simply because there's less there after you drain it. It would probably be negligable though depending on what type of soup you were drinking.
Why would you do that anyway? Seems like it wouldn't be soup anymore without the fluid. :o

I understand where you are coming from, kdubya38. I do not drink the excess broth after all of my soup is gone, and I would assume that this would save calories and sodium (probably more of the latter). However, since there is virtually no way of knowing how many calories or grams of sodium you are saving, it is difficult to try to make an assumption.
I am posting this as I am eating a can of Campbell's Select Chicken with Egg Noodles soup...yum...

well because im not really too much of a fan of ever "drinking" that stuff in there lol. I just dont drink things that have already had food in them, the same as people who dont eat all of the milk left over after they've had cereal. I was just curious because i never have the broth
ahh. sorry, i misunderstood you the first time. i don't drink the leftover milk in the cereal if there's a lot either. :)
In soup, there wouldnt be many calories in the broth.. but I think it would probably save on sodium
You would save on 10-20 calories and definately save on sodium.
That being said - I actually drain my soup and only eat the broth! It's a terrible habit I got into when I really felt like snacking and had already consumed my calorie limit.
