Savory low-calorie snacks?

Quote  |  Reply
I see a LOT of great ideas for low-calorie sweets on here, but what about savory snacks? Hmm something salty perhaps. Any ideas? How about anything in the 100-calorie or less range?

My mother sprinkles dry ranch dressing MIX over cottage cheese and mixes it up. SOOOOO good.

Also chicken salad with mustard, dill weed, and celery salt is really good on wasa rye crisps.
This may not strike some as a "snack" per se...but I like eating a cup of steamed, mashed butternut squash with some extra light spread, salt, fresh pepper, and a dash of nutmeg as a snack.

The squash itself is about 80 cals... plus whatever spread or topping you choose. It's got fiber, vitamins, and ultmately I find it very satisfying.
Marmite or Vegemite on whatever you want to put it on. Only 9-20 calories per teaspoon which is a huge almost inedible amount.

Someone on another snack thread suggested 1/2 a pita sprinkled with spices and baked for pita chips. Love that idea too!
I had THE best 100 calorie snack last night! Joseph's flax, oatbran low carb pitas are my new best friend. they have 60 (yes 60!!!) calories for one whole pita! i took it and spread it with 2 tablespoons (and i actually measured) of red pepper hummus at 40 cals. for 2 tbls., which was more than enough for a pretty thick layer over the whole pita! it was delicious and only 100 calories. awesome! i am very excited to try making the pitas into chips next!
Try low butter popcorn and add extra salt if you want.  I use a bag of popcorn to snack on through out my whole day.  I'm not sure how many calories but it sure keeps me from overeating on my other meals.

I found an awesome snack that is 150 calories and you get 22 in ea serving.

They are called " Snapea Crisps" by Calbee Snack Salad.  Seriously, they may not sound good, but they are super good!

check them out www.amazon.co/gp/product/B000FMZO8G

I had this problem too!

I use yogurt to make dips (15 cals tbsp) and mix in fiesta ranch seasoning to have with veggies.

Cottage cheese + salt & pepper

crackers (melba toast wheat is 50 cals for 4 pcs) + wedge of laughing cow or hummus

also there is another multigrain cracker (wasabi? can't remember brand exactly but its by the melba toast) large cracker = 20 cals - also with laughing cow or hummus

I"m still looking for other ideas, I usually want the savory too - not the sweet.

String cheese and crackers(it is good melted)

pb on celery

Alexia brand makes sweet potato healthier fries and other types of potato variety

100 calorie nut packs

soy rice crisps like rice cakes but with soy protein

You can make the squash into fries too

1 cup of soups(trader joes makes some varieties in box

try sprinkling salt on rice cakes makes them really nice wierd i know even on the salted ones! haha makes it more filling or else pute tomato puree on it with slices of cucumber its very savoury not salty but ah sure xD is hard to find low calorie salty food even tho salt hasnt got any calories :/
