Just saying hi!

Hey.... I'm new too, like so many of you. I just thought I'd say hi and tell a little about myself. I just turned 20 a few weeks ago and I'm a sophomore nursing student at a great University. I absolutely love it! I am excited to have found this site. I have been looking for a way to keep myself accountable for my calories and exercise (or lack of exercise). I am 5' 6'' and weight around 180. On here my goal weight is 136, but my personal goal first is 150. I'm going to try to take is day by day.

Not to through a pity party for myself but I am here because I have had a pretty hard year. On August 3rd, 2007 one of my best friend died tragically when she was studying abroad when she fell when she was hiking. It's been a little over 3 months and I still can't believe that she is gone. Additionally, I found a lump in my breast a few months ago, and after a few test finally discovered that, while it was not cancerous (thank God), I have to have it removed. These, alone with other major changes in my life, has made me feel so out of control.

My weight is never something I have felt in control of either. But all of these things have forced me to realize what I do and don't have control over, and take advantage of the things that I do. My weight is something that I do have control over. Every time I watch TV instead of going for a walk, or every time I eat that donut instead of an apple... these are things I CAN control.

I want to be healthy for me. I want to feel good about how I look and I want to look as confident as I feel and know that I am.

Anyways.... good luck to the rest of you and any support you can offer would be wonderful! :)

When you have a moment, please finish filling out your profile.
Not everyone will see this post and be able learn about you (not everyone reads all the forums), but if they see your name somewhere, and click on your default pic (which you don't have one yet :), they can read your profile and learn more about you that way.

It HAS been tough. But, you are TOUGHER.
