My Scale is Broken!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quote  |  Reply

my scale is broken.

does anyone have suggestions on what kind i should get, where i should get it and how much i should expect to pay? is it worth getting one that tells me bmi and BF%?

Thanks!

(edited because, as much i enjoy being told i'm dependent, i really just want scale opinions. not that i didn't take your replies into consideration. perhaps i will go down to only a few times per day.)

as a person that likes to hop up on the scale constantly, mostly because it's there, I would like to share this with you.

weight is not everything in your health.  what about body fat %?  what if you were 20lbs away from your goal weight, but your body fat was unhealthily low?

If you really want a scale, go to consumer reports, and get the one that is rated for accuracy.  Why? because ultimately it's your overall health that matters, not the number on the scale.

Wheather you make your "goal weight" or not, I'm sure you will look, and even MORE importantly FEEL great.

PS if you want to measure body fat % go to a fitness place and either get the pinch test done with calipers, or for further accuracy, get the dunk test.  those are the most accurate ways to do it.

So how's the new scale working out? Inquiring minds want to know . . .

lol okay, you obviously get that weighing yourself that often doesn't give any sort of accuracy. I, personally, also weight myself throughout the day. I'm not sure why, more out of curiosity then anything else. It's pretty interesting to see how much your weight can fluctuate throughout the day. It doesn't bother me one bit that it's higher in the evening then it is in the morning, I'm just curious.

So back to your question, just buy a cheap scale. I don't even think how accurate it is, is really that important, since if it is out by a pound or two, it's going to be the same pound or two every day lol.

From what I've heard, the bf% scales are garbage. Completely inaccurate and can often give a different reading to the same weight every time.

So, I'd say just buy a simple scale! :)

How frustrating!

I hate my scale, it is a spring one.  I want a new digital one, but I don't know what one out of the 100 I have seen in the stores near my house to buy.

I wish one person would give a suggestion on what scale to buy.  Not so many suggestion on;  to weight or not to weigh yourself.

You must be going CRAZY!! Even though, I must honestly admit i have never had a scale. The only times I ever weigh myself are at the pharmacy. Yes, a bit stone-age. You should get the weight watcher's digital scale, because not only does it measure your weight, it also tells your fat percentage, so basically BMI and BF%. The prices sould be around $10 - $20, depending on quality. Honestly, I think it doesn't matter what scale it is, as long as you have a scale (unlike me), so go and get one that looks purty.

Simple question, simple answer.  Walmart, digital, 19.95, comes with BMI chart.

Weight Watchers scales are $29.95.  (I'm a member).

I like the digital scales as though not extremely accurate I like knowing down the 0.2 lbs what I weigh. I weigh myself every morning on my digi scale and my regular one (regular one is 3 lbs heavier which is probably my "real" weight but it doesn't give me 10th of a lb accuracy). I say just buy whatever scale is cheapest. But although I am an obsessive weigher also, 15 times a day does indicate some significant problems?!

i am very happy with my new scale! first time i stepped on it (after a crazy long week without it) it gave me a new all time low weight. i'm sure it's as accurate as my old one too, since the low weight is only one pound below my previous low and, like i said, i hadn't weighed in a while.

my new baby is a digital tanita that i got for $30. not too bad!

and 15/day really isn't a problem. like i said, i like looking at fluctuations. i like weighing myself after a meal and then seeing how long it takes for that meal to settle into my body. idk, it's interesting. i don't take any weight but my morning one seriously.

Hey!  What a great surprise for you when you hadn't weighed your self in awhile!  To me that would be incentive to not weigh 15 times a day, don't you think?  A happy, motivating pat on the back as I see it.Laughing
