hi, i am currently in recovery from ED ;;;     &nbs p; although the scale is telling me that i have gained 10 pounds, i am not seeing this in real life; my clothes seem to be fitting pretty much the same; and i still look quite bony.

is this what you would call a fluid retention? or does ten pounds not show up in pants sizes?    any imput would be appreciated; thanks! :)

it definitely could be water weight, especially if this 10 pounds has suddenly appeared...it would require 35000 extra calories to gain 10 pounds...this would require at least 2-3 weeks unless you were binging daily. 10 pounds would be significant enough to feel it in your clothes...so i would assume it's not "real weight"

Do you work out at all?? It could be muscle, or it could be half water retention, half weight of the food inside you. I think you would see a whole ten pounds of water weight-when I'm retaining water, I can always see it, even if its a small amount.

it could be food, it could be water, it could be muscle, but keep in mind that a few hardly show at all! ten is probably somewhat noticeable, but not that much, really. i think our main fear of weight gain is what the scale says, and thinking that is going to be heavily reflected on our bodies. but when you actually start gaining, it takes a while and a lot of pounds to make a significant difference. for me the diference in the scale is more scary than in my body, and it took about twenty pounds for me to actually see a really big change and like it.

It took me 17lbs(where I am now) of gaining to notice! I mean I obviously looked healthier starting around 10lbs, but my clothes still fit(I think mostly because everything was too big).
