Scales say i'm losing, yet i look and feel bigger??? Help!

Quote  |  Reply

I have been dieting since Jan 09, and lost 2st 10 lbs in total :)

I am near target weight - just 3 lb to go. I have been on a plateau for last few weeks where stayed the same, scales now say i have lost a couple of pounds yet both me and my boyfriend thought i had gained weight as my belly looks bigger and i feel generally bigger.

Whats going on?? :(

It may be two things: you may have lost muscle and been given a new appearance of weight gain OR you may have water retention. Try eating a little more and reducing your sodium and see if that does anything. If you have lost muscle weight make sure you do some light weights to regain.

i second the above post. i tihnk its retention but it also is that you may have lost muscle and less fat giving you the skinny fat appearance.

eat more healthy foods, and weight lift. try the New rules of lifting for women

ok thank you. I will try both these things. I do feel it may be water retention too, as in the morning i feel ok and look ok, by the evening i am all bloated and gross. Am i eating wrong? It mainly seems to happen after eating lots of veg though e.g. last night i had ratatouille and brown rice with a little reduced fat cheese and salad, then looked preganant until this morning!?! Trying to be healthy so very confused

I agree that avoiding sodium and light strength training will make you feel better.  I also notice that drinking more water ( not 64 ounces or anything, just at least one glass before I let myself have pop, etc) and making sure to get 8 hours of sleep helps each night helps me feel better and less bloated.  Also, it could just be that time of the month.

Onions, beans, eggs, cabbage, broccoli and a whole host of other veggies also can cause intestinal gas.  Gives a nice bloated look and feel.  You might try Bean-O.  It has enzymes to help digest these foods easier.  You take it Before you eat.

OMG! i can't believe I didn't think of that. Yes.  Beano is a life saver.  Try that first.  I must need to follow my advice and get more sleep.  :)

Where can you get Bean-o? Never heard of it! Sounds like might help though!

Most grocery stores and pharmacies will have it.
