scales..ugh
how can i gain a pound and a half in one day, when i have been logging everything, staying well within my calorie limits, and going to curves three days a week? sigh. this is usually the point where i give up, and im fighting really hard to leave that mindset behind me. maybe i should throw away the scales ....

Put the scale in the closet and buy a measuring tape. Measure your inches lost instead of weight, and you'll likely find that you are toning up, which doesn't show up on a scale.
Did you eat anything particularly salty yesterday? Water retention is most likely the cluprit of your gain.
Drink lots of water to flush out the water you're holding on to, and the scale should go back down.
Try not to put too much faith in the scale. Sure it's nice and motivating to see the numbers going down (it was for me!), but it doesn't always give an accurate reading of how you're doing.
If you're doing a lot of weights at curves, it's possible you're putting on muscle, and that weighs more than fat.
Don't give up. I just went through a 2 week time frame where I couldn't get below 198-200 (I would fluctuate between those 2 numbers) I was going to give up. I was minutes away from crashing, but then I posted an "SOS" in my journal. I got some good advice and today, I weighed in at 195.8.
It IS possible - you CAN do it, and don't give up. It's hard, but when you need help, come to the forums, talk to everyone to help you through the hard times :)

I love the scale it helps me keep going in the right direction. I try not to get too flipped out if I see it go up a few pounds from one day to the next. There are lots of different variable for why that can be. I also try only to weigh in every day at the same time early in the morning, after a trip to the bathroom.
It's probably just water weight.
In any case I thought you might enjoy my new picture :)

i can flucuate 7lbs in one day. its more than likey all water. dont give up girl, i know what its like. i get discouraged when i see ive gone up a few. try this: weigh yourself in the morning only, once a week, with nothing but your underwear on. i find this helps. and take in to consideration what youve eaten, drank and (gals worst enemy) pms.
i completely understand your frustration. ever since i started exercising regularly, (3 times a week), the scale has gradually been going up. i'm mainly doing cardio (stationary bike and treadmill), so i find it hard to believe it's muscle weight, and i drink a ton of water each day, so i doubt it's water retention. i don't get it. i feel your pain. we need to just wait it out though.
thanks, everyone...ive been going to curves sporadically for a year, and just recently started trying to be more dedicated, along with really counting calories and eating more healthfully. i also am prone to wide flucuations during the day, so i only weigh in the mornings. i think im going to cut back to once a week tho. i drink at least 64 ounces of water a day, and already get up twice a night to go. not sure i can drink any more...
lulu, i loved the picture... i can SO picture that being me...
