Ugh, all the Asian horror movies seem to be ghost/spirit movies... so I can honestly say I'm not interested. That's not scary to me.
I agree with whoever mentioned Feast, I jumped a few times AND the dialogue is funny.
Evil Dead was the first movie to ever scare me.
For pure 80's awesomeness Sleepaway Camp I, II, and III or the entire Friday the 13th series.

I saw "I am Legend" last weekend. It was good, but not as scary as it was jumpy!
Last Man on Earth with Vincent Price is the best adaptation of the book, I think. But then again I hate Will Smith!

Well, not ALL asian movies are about ghosts ;) but true alot are (cause asians [general] believe in that stuff) but well I'm a fan of little scary girl in white sleeping gowns and longblack hair that makes them look psycho OK! ![]()
Asian Horror can also be pretty bloody & twisted - Suicide Club is a pretty eird/cool asian one - not very ghosty at all.
Lissasue - since you live in the US, I have no clue if you can rent these movies at normal movie stores :] In germany you can under the 'foreign movies' or 'horror movies' category.
I hate Will Smith too and I have a major crush on the late Mr. Price so I'm biased but I feel Last Man on Earth is the best adaptation too (unless you're counting Night of the Living Dead, then that wins but I don't count it).
It really depends what kind of horror you're into. If you're looking for "suspense horror" check out some classic Hitchcock. If you have never seen Psycho put that at the top of your list. Rear Window is wicked too.
If you like the possessed by the devil, religion, satan is coming sort of thing The Omen is good. The remake wasn't all that bad either.
If you're looking for movies that will actually scare you and make you feel funny for awhile I'd say leave the horror genre and look for a David Lynch movie (except Dune or Straight Story though I love Straight Story). Eraserhead will make you very unsure of yourself for quite some time. Also Harmony Korine made some messed up movies that will surely freak you out if you can make it through. Gummo seems the most readily available.

Also, "Cloverfield" wasn't bad. Very original.
oh, and Identity is AWESOME!!!!
Original Post by jewelsmcblah:Have you seen "Julien Donkey Boy"? I still try and explain how strange that movie is to people when they bring up Gummo.
Audition is a pretty good Japanese horror. It's not scary but it'll make you feel uneasy and a little confused for sure. Suicide Club and Visitor Q are pretty cool too.

Yeah, I saw Julien before Gummo! The way I explain Julien Donkey Boy is "it's either the best or worst film ever made, and I can't decide which."
I watched it after taking a bunch of bong rips and ended up getting way into it. I agree I still can't decide if it's brilliant or horrible.
BUT
The brother that wrestles the trash cans = awesome.
One of my ex boyfriends had that book Harmony Korine put out with people's suicide notes and other random stuff. I always wanted to read it but still haven't picked it up.
