School is messing up my routine..
So today was my first day back to school and all was good until I decided to go to the gym after I was done with classes. This whole summer I've been going to the gym religiously at 8:30 or 9 in the morning, and I've officially become addicted to exercise, especially my spinning classes. But now that I've got school all morning, I have to go to the gym in the evening if I want to go at all. And it's definitely not as satisfying. My stomach is full from the days eating, I'm sluggish after sitting in the classroom for hours on end, and I'm having a hard time motivating myself to even get out of the house.
Anyone else had a hard time adjusting to a schedule change? How did you work through it?
my school starts in exactly one week, and i'm used tow orking out int eh mornigns as well, what i'm doing now is trying to slowly adjust to evening work outs so the change won't be a big deal, but it's much more satisfying in the morning. I also need advice on this :|
I am 31 year old teacher returning to work after 6 weeks off, so I hear you.
WORK IT< girl!!!!!!!!!!!!
Make the workouts work for you, and fit them into your schedule. it will make you feel better -- promise.
I get up at 5 AM to ride my bike or jog my dog. It helps me wake up and be better on the eating all day after working out so early. ( : I pack my own take-along lunches and snacks in the evening every day. I FORCE myself to drink 100 oz of water at work from 7-3PM. It is rough, but it is a habit now for me finally.
I would love to see the "other side" from my students' point of view and maybe even help too. ( :
How could I help?
i actually find it easier to manage myself during school. I have things taking up time so I don't eat all the time, I have practice after school, plus PE during school. I love it :) but I don't like school. hehe.
if you get up a do some exercise like a jog around the block that helps set the tone for the day and will help you not feel so sluggish later on. eating a light lunch will help to.
do you live far from your first class? i'm going to a single college spanning 3 campuses (minnesota) and my tuesday thursday class is the farthest from my dorm; i could take the bus, or i could ride my bike. i hope to bike it. could you jog to class, or do you have too many books?
I had to go all the way to your Facebook page to see that you are in college. It was the easiest for me when i was incollege because I didn't have endless classes all day. I have a son who is school age and I would schedule my first class for 9:10 and I would workout after dropping him at school. I don't know how college works out there if you have an option of deciding when your classes are. I know as I got to upper level classes they only offered them at certain times and you had to take them or not graduate. Also, I would break up my day. I might take an early class and leave about an hour and a half and work out during the mid-day break.
There is one thing you have going for you and that is you don't have to really worry about anyone other than yourself and YOUR schedule. Is there a gym on campus? Can you walk to school? I used to do that all the time and that was awesome because I would walk to school and workout - double benefit!
Anyway, good luck with figuring out your schedule. i am struggling with the same thing right now with my kid in school. I had early hours over the summer and I was able to go to the gym in the evening and take yoga but now, first of all I can't get to the gym by the time the classes are being given - but even if I could I can't be home as late as 7:00 pm on a school night because of dinner and bath and stuff. I have tried getting up early but that has been futile because my husband is in the den playing video games and I can't workout in any other room.
I feel you pain! :) Hang in there you will figure it out!
Well everyone, I ended up taking a very direct route to solving my problem: I dropped a class. Haha. It wasn't JUST because I wanted to use that early morning time to exercise (it was a crappy overcrowded class with a bad teacher, among other things), but it definitely did factor into it. Now my schedule is perfect! I have a class at 7:30, after which I go to the gym, shower, have some lunch at home, and then drive back for my afternoon class. Granted, parking is absolutely ATROCIOUS at that time in the afternoon, I have to factor in an extra hour for me to circle around the parking lot/various parking structures. But it's definitely worth it now that I can get my exercise in in the mornings. :)
