what if i had more time?............. like a month or two? whats the bestw ay to prepare?????
and i HAVE BEEN TRAINING BY THE WAY.......... but what would be the best thing to do now?... i have 1-2 weeks left until the test, how can i maintain / improve from THIS POITN?
as for FUTURE mile run tests, whats the best way to train?.... you guys say intervals, hills, longer distances?
just what I said....if you want to be serious.
Ok from my experience in high school when we had to do the mile run (2 miles for seniors. JERKS! aha) i found you need the endurance. Without the endurance you cant go fast, If you start out fast and have no stamina or endurance your going to get a stitch and walk most of the way. Pace yourself is what I was always told by coaches and gym teachers. Save your energy for the last bit and sprint to the end. The uphill excercises that some one above mentioned are good and will help. Since you say you have been training then get your butt on the track and start timing yourself everyday (more like 5-6 days dont over do it, give yourself a rest day). make sure you stretch too. If you have dance dance revolution, play that. It deff helps with endurance. I love it cause when I run now I can run for alot longer than before. If your endurance is up then push your speed everytime. The only way to train yourself at this point is to time yourself on every mile run. Good luck!
Where r u now, with training? Lets start there. MAybe I can help. I have to do a 1.5 test next week.

Run a mile as fast as you can everyday until your race and stretch before and after. Time yourself everyday to keep yourself motivated. During volleyball season (yeah I don't know why we run for volleyball either) we run a mile everyday before practice timed for our summer conditioning. If we don't improve our time every 3 days by 5 seconds we have to run an extra 1/3 of a mile. It's the fastest I've ever seen drastic changes. I went from an 8 minute mile the first day to a 7: 20 by the end of two weeks, some girls improved even more than that. Anyway good luck..those mile run tests are the worst.
^ the reason why your conditioning for volley ball is so your not worn 20 minutes into the game. Your able to keep your strength up with out tiring out. I was a cheerleader and running 1 mile everyday was required because if we didnt we'd be gasping for air during a cheer or work out during half time routine or even lifting people. Conditioning is key to everything.
currently, i run around 7min...... 45? i dont know, pretty close to the 7 min. 59 LIMIT... i have to run FASTER than 7minn 59 or i'm OUT of the school's list thingy i've been able to maintain....
our run will be on MONDAY or THURSDDAY depending on the weather.....
i would like to know the BEST WAY TO PREPARE.... eat, train, rest, etc
i just REALLY want to achieve this goal until i'm out of highschool.... i dont knwo why, but this little fitness test is VERY important to me...... i know its a terrible measurement of your fitness, but i just want to get it......... and i'm NERVEOUS b/c its WITHIN A WEEK D':..............
i just read....... running alot oflong distance= loss of muscle= slower pace....
sounds... so.... true... b/c i know from experience, in 7th grade, iw as a sprinter, butmy teacher said i would be a better distance runner and made me join distance team.... eversince then, i've beeen able to get a "better" mile time + play cardio stuff longer, but i DID become a slower sprinter/ weakered legs...
