Does this concern anyone else?

No more than the 50-odd people I see smoking cigarettes and idling their cars every single day. At least this is a possible means for understanding the universe. Just because the Earth might be destroyed earlier rather than later, doesn't make it any less acceptable, IMO.

the end is nigh... REPENT!!!

Concerned? No. I CANT WAIT. It's almost as exciting as Heroes!

The article makes me giggle.  Maybe Heroes will add this into the plot?  hmm...

dibs on the first spider bite!

Lol.  That's fantastic.

I'm going straight to the alternate-nuclear power plant to roll in the waste. What causes lymphoma here, OBVIOUSLY causes superhuman abilities there!

hmmm. the lawsuit is allowed to go on, but so is the project. talk about a win/win for the government. if nothing happens, the suit is invalid. if the planet is destroyed, the suit is invalid.

no court costs......saaawwweeeet.

 WAY ahead of you ;)

Well, before trains were a reallity, it was a real concern whether or not people could survive going more than 30 km/h.

I think we're all going to be alright ;)

omfg... cancer it is caused by assisted locomotion!!!

The teeeny insignificant risk of total destruction seems worth the possibility of the knowledge we could gain from these experiments. Also... it is exciting like heroes, heh

Nah no concern at all!

If it can suck the earth from the inside out does that mean it will suck us from the inside out too?

free lipo suction and colonic irrigation.......cool!

As a physicist (well, currently just a physics major in university), I have to whole-heartedly agree.  :)

first thing i thought was Angels and Demons

I never had the time to make a second thought...

dun dun dun *scary, imminent-blackhole-music*

No, it doesn't concern me.  It would only be a tiny black hole.  Nothing to get your panties in a twist about.

Oh man, I had serious deja vu, and it's been bothering me for a couple of days since I heard about the particle accelerator, and now I know why! I can't believe I never made the connection. (BTW great friggin book)
