in search of low cal meal that will fill you up
Basically I'm trying to find something about 340 calories or less that is good and will FILL you up. It could be a single food or a whole meal but the important factor is that A) it fills me up and B) it tastes at least tolerable.
I just need it to finish my calories for later on. I kind of planned what I'm going to eat up to that point and I need something around 339-345 calories to complete my meals for the day.

Hey thanks, I appreciate it, but what is rotel?
Lean Cousines are a tasty fast yummy meal ! They are about in that cal. range or lower. Cereal is great snack... Cambells soups are good.. the Chicken gumbo is good only 170 for the can.. and the fat free cream of chicken is good too!
a few ounces of grilled chicken or tofu or something lean that is protein and all the fresh veggies you could want. or a grilled chicken salad dressing on the side.
Or a bowl of Fiber One with Fat-Free Milk...
1/2 cup of black beans
1/2 cup cooked brown rice
2oz of chicken
chopped tomatoes, onion and little avocado
some low fat shredded cheese.
hit up the black beans with some cayene, cumin and garlic and mix.
I will take two cans of black beans with the water and put them in a non stick pan with some cayene, cumin and gralic. Chop up two chicken breasts and through them in the pan with the beans. cook until the chicken is done. Put over brown rice and top with tomatoes, onion and avocado.
I then portion out the above measurements for myself and my boyfriend normally eats the rest. Its a great and really filling meal.

Egg white omelettes. They're so freaking low in calories it's amazinggg. I like to toss chopped onions, tomatoes, and peppers into my egg whites, squirt a couple butter sprays, and fry it up. An omelette with 3 egg whites (2 is usually enough for me, so 3 is big) is only 50 calories!
This doesn't have to be your main dish, but if you still feel hungry at the end of your meal and you don't have many cals left, try this!

thanks for all of your suggestions!
Hey...
Love the suggestion for the omelette. But what do I do with the egg yolk that I don't use? Oh and my mom hates the idea of taking out the egg yolk. She says I'm robbing myself of nutrients and I'm being fussy.

you could always make handmade pasta if you don't mind the trouble. sometimes certain dessert recipes call for egg yolks only, but if you are trying to lose weight, then dessert probably isn't a good idea.
Hey could someone tell me what the heck that rotel stuff is? jenniferthepennifer from above had put it into her recipe for taco soup but I don't know what it is.
rotel is a can of diced tomatoes with jalapenoes (spelling) etc. A lot time people put a can of that with velveeta and make rotel cheese dip. You find it with your can of tomatoes at the store.
I've seen on plenty of 'home made' beauty sites a home made conditioner for your hair that calls for egg yolks.

Actually, you are only being robbed of all the fat and cholesterol eggs have when you remove the yolk. The whites contain all of the protein and everything else.

Hope this cleared up some things.

anything served with buckwheat - buckwheat can be cooked in a rice cooker (1 cup buckwheat, 1 cup water) - that's the basis for most of my at-home dinners because it feels me up like nothing else does, has a nutty flavour that i love and goes well with any veggie, including sauteed mushrooms, beef, bison or other meat - for a special treat try a casserole of cooked buckwheat (slightly underdone), sauerkraut or cabbage, tomato soup and dill - bake at 350 for about 1 hr.
Actually the Egg Yolk has more than just the Cholestrol and Fat, it also has all the vitamins...
OATMEAL.
This is a yummy meal and it is about 320 cals:
1/2 cup plain oatmeal (about 150 cals)
1 cup frozen mixed berries (about 70 cals)
1 6-8 oz container nonfat yogurt (any flavor, I like raspberry for this recipe) (about 100 cals)
microwave the oatmeal with a little water to cook it. The oatmeal will be hot. Mix in the cup of frozen mixed berries to cool it down and defrost the berries. Then mix in the yogurt. The taste is similar to a "fruit and yogurt parfait". This recipe takes about 3 minutes to prepare, tastes good, and FILLS YOU UP. You will be amazed at how big of a bowl you end up with.
Also, you can take the yogurt and fruit alone (I actually mix in about 4 packets of splenda in) and freeze it in an icecream maker - it tastes best right when the freezer is done - putting it in your freezer to harden ruines it. This works well if you are in the mood for some ice cream.
