Seasonal Temptations

We all know too well how the Holidays can wreck our progress from the previous year! Share some of your own tips to avoid those extra pounds typically put on between November and January.

Holiday Parties

1. When attending Holiday parties be sure to eat before you go. Then you won't be as tempted to nosh on all those tasty (and fattening) treats. If the event is a sit-down meal, eat an apple before you go. The fiber will fill you up so you don't overeat.

2. You don't have to avoid every yummy delicacy, but think about how long you will have to work out to burn it off! For example: One piece of cheese cake is 18 g of fat and 257 calories! To burn it off, you would have to walk 1 hour at a very brisk pace!

3. Get educated! Be familiar with traditional Holiday party foods and stay away from the ones that are really unhealthy.

4. Avoid those sugary Holiday adult beverages (egg nog is a killer!). If you must drink; limit yourself to a glass of red wine or light beer. Not only will you be playing it safe on the roads, you will eliminate wasted calories!

Happy Holidays and Healthy Living!
