THE SEC Sucks and KG is asleep .....
hahahahahah
Can't say that when:
- the National Champs have been from the SEC in the past 3 years--dominating the Buckeyes (who are extremely overrated) and beating one of the much hyped, but still great Big 12 South teams (which belongs to the most current Heisman winner).
- Most of the 1st round NFL draft picks from this year have been from the SEC. #1 QB Stafford, #1 RB Knowshon Moreno. Both from from UGA.
- 4 SEC teams ranked in pre-season USA Today/Coaches Poll Top 10 -- Florida (1); Alabama (5); LSU (9); Ole Miss (10). No other conference has more than 2 top 10 teams.
- 10 of top 40 teams in the poll are from the SEC.
- With Georgia ranked #1 in last year's pre-season poll, this is the first time any conference has had different teams ranked #1 in consecutive pre-season polls.
- Hate to say it when I'm a Gator hater, but I will predict Florida will win it all again. If so, that will be 4 straight National Championships for the SEC. No other college football conference has ever done that before.
I can go on forever. The only other amazing conference is the Big 12 (South)--and as I said in my first point... We still came out on top playing against them.
The SEC is amazing. Can't wait till conference football games!! And yeah, Florida is going to be on fire again this year. I'm a tigers fan, but I can't deny how good Florida is.
what is Georgia's pre-season ranking?
Alabama sucks though. I HATE BAMA!
Personally, I base my judgment of SEC vs. Big Ten on the 2008 Capital One Bowl game.
But yes, the SEC is dominant right now and while I don't think Florida will win it all (I think it will be someone surprising this year), Kentucky is my "other" team and I will cheer for them even if they should probably just sit it out until basketball season. The SEC is not bulletproof, however: remember that Alabama lost to Utah (lol Nick Saban). In fact, my 3-9 Wolverines had a better showing against Utah that year than Alabama did.
The Pac-10 used to be quite good but they've declined recently. I'm sure USC will still win their conference, but I would love to see the Big Ten representative actually beat them in the Rose Bowl this year (unless it's Ohio State).
I don't think the Big 12 is not as good as everyone thinks they are. Ohio State very narrowly lost to Texas in the Fiesta Bowl after being creamed by USC earlier in the season. Oklahoma had a very poor showing against Florida in the title game, lost to West Virginia the year before, and Boise State the year before that.
We really need a lot more inter-conference play before bowl season. They always seem to occur too early in the season to have much impact on national title contention. But what is really important here is that football season starts in 6 days!!!!
Edit: Correction, OSU did not beat itself... USC beat them :-P
Oh. No. You. Didn't.
GO GATORS!!!!!!!
I couldn't help myself Kathy. I hurt my toe and was drinking to relieve the pain and got ornery and decided to rabble rouse a little. ![]()
Agree. Playoff system is long overdue in college football.
The SEC blows, not a single wrestling team.

Yes! It would also give teams like Utah and Boise State a chance to compete for the title when they go undefeated in the regular season.
Well...I wouldn't go that far. ;)
It would still need to be based on the national ranking. :)

I agree, but assuming they haven't played a complete cupcake schedule they should still be in the top 8 or at least the top 16. Utah was ranked 6th in the BCS before bowl season last year, so they would have qualified assuming a field of eight playoff. In 2006 Boise State was ranked 9th at the end of their regular season (and their bowl game was one of the best games I think I've ever seen). Although you also get cases like undefeated Hawaii a couple years ago who got embarrassed in their bowl game (against Georgia, I think?)
Then again, if we had more inter-conference play I think we'd get a much better picture of who the best team really is during the regular season.
Good point. Boise State's win was, indeed, an excellent moment in college football. :)
New avatar agrees: Go Gators! :)
