Secret goals, self-motivation.
I was wondering, if anyone-like myself...has some kind of reward set up for themselves when they have reached their goal. I know losing the weight is a reward unto itself...(Improved self-esteem, getting to wear clothes you like, etc...yadda-yadda.)
What sort of "prize" have you promised your new self? It would be interesting to hear what others are doing ! I myself have promised me, in 24 pounds...to get a beautiful tattoo on my left shoulder. (Heck, I am almost 42, it's not like it's a whim)
Anyhoo...can't wait to hear some of your ideas!
when i first started trying to lose weight, i wanted to go to paris for a reward for the weight loss (i'm trying to lose 170 pounds in total; lost 41 so far). i planned on buying a gorgeous white dress -- don't ask me why -- and getting a sexy haircut.
i still want to go to paris, but for my 30th b-day next year.
i still want the white dress, but i'm looking at it for this new year's eve. look at my photo gallery to see the one i've been drooling over recently.
i can only fit it if i lose the amount of weight i plan on losing this year, and i really want that dress! i won't have all the weight off, but a huge percentage of it will be gone.
I just noticed that someone else posted a thread similar to this (sorry!) With more short-term goals like, a bubble bath, getting your nails done, etc. I think small rewards and daily treats (non-food related) are important as well. For me? I like to buy myself new excersize clothes (sports bras, new work-out shirts(on sale) a fitness magazene...a nice smelling body wash...things like that.
I like the white dress idea...just because you want a white dress. I am sure when you get there you will look fabulous in it with your beautiful dark skin.
I just got married 6 months ago and the white dress didn't look too great on me..I was pudgy AND sunburt. Not cute. :(
Heck, maybe after I lose the weight AND when my abs are showing again...I may just get my belly button peirced...and even show my belly once in a while ! Thinking about that sure can motivate you...you think "What is more important, how I feel after I eat something terrible for me, or how I WILL feel in a few months when I am absoloutely proud of how I look in the mirror! (And how much more energy I will have)
I just need to motivate myself to stop making excuses about going to the gym !
Since I just started, I need to set some smaller goals and set rewards for them too. I know at each increment of about 20 pounds I'll get to get some new clothes, but other than that, nothing yet decided!
I'm 4 lbs away from my first goal & I'm going to reward myself with a manicure (never had one).
After I hit my final goal I'm going to get myself a cherry red Ford Galaxie 500. ^_^
It's my dream car!

Nice! very thelma & louise!
Lose 50 pounds ... new bike (achieved)
Lose 75 pounds ... Alaska Cruise (achieved ... we sail May 3)
Lose 100 pounds ... all new clothes (have already started, since nothing fits!)
And my wonderful DH keeps rewarding with me with presents and jewelry, too... just to "keep me encouraged" he said.

i started at 150. at 145, i got myself a magazine (its a really expensive one that i can usually never afford!). im now at 143.8.
when i get to 139, im getting two new albums. i havent decided on rewards for 135 or 130 yet but when i reach my ultimate goal of 125, im getting a nice, expensive bikini! =)
I've decided that, when I make goal, I'm going to start taking ballet lessons again. When I was a kid, I took them for 2 years, but my parents couldn't really afford it, so I had to quit.
I loved those lessons.
And I'm thinking about getting a second tattoo in a place I wouldn't have when I was really heavy.
I'm not sure yet. Maybe I'll take myself to the beach for a week. =)
My hair. With four kids and job, the money and time for a total hair makeover is hard to come by. I have one more pound to lose before I make the appointment to get my hair highlighted. (I have long hair and I want two colors, so it's mighty expensive.)
I don't plan on buying myself clothes as I get smaller, because I've kept all of them from when I was thinner.
The belly button piercing sounds like a possibility. :)
