Hi everyone! I'm 55 and joined CC about 2 months ago. I'm 5'3" and weighed 144 pounds. Now I'm down to 131 lbs. I'm an exercise fanatic, well I love to jog anyway. I'm not fast or anything and it takes me an hour to go 8 km on the treadmill. The good thing is that I burn about 570 calories. The bad thing is that I still really have to watch what I eat. If I don't count my calories and have a night of binging, I will gain weight - up to 3 or 4 pounds in one day! So I guess what I'm saying is, you cannot just exercise. You really need to diet AND exercise. I have found that when I cut back to running every 2nd day that I feel better. Every other day I do a set of stretching exercises (from an old Jane Fonda workout tape). I want to lose another 7 pounds but would be happy staying at around 126-127. My goal is 124 lbs. One other thing, I find that when I lay off the wine (which I love) I lose weight faster. That's hard to do tho...lol. Good luck everyone!
Congratulations chenrickson on your success over the last 2 months. I have been overweight for years and have been quite frustrated about it. I am 54 and need to loose 50 pounds. But you are so right, you do need both diet and exercise. I joined a new gym three weeks ago (I've joined lots of gyms in my lifetime) but this time I opted for a personal trainer for a few times (I felt like I needed to do something different in order to achieve success). The guy who signed me up helped me realize that I needed to do both and the personal trainer has given lots of good ideas for exercising, keeping the boredom away. I am an emotional eater and am trying to find other ways of coping besides eating. Thank you for sharing.
Good luck on your journey of losing weight and more important, becoming healthier. We all know its not easy but well worth the time and effort put into it! Thanks for your reply.
