Sedentary burn? what's really included?
Ok so does my Sedentary burn include little things like shower, cooking setting the table, washing dishes, bathing kids, laundry? or should I be adding them?
I don't as of now. I took those things as my everyday. If I should be adding them then I may have more then the 500-700 deficiency. But if it includes those things then I'm all good.
*** I do add some if I'm being lazy on day ( Or day off from the gym) or do an unnatural amount of laundry(like everyone is sick and I have to change all the bedding)
I never thought about it before sorry if it seems a dumb question just one of my random thoughts that I didn't see an answer to when I searched.
I think all those everyday kind of things are included. I count my exercise if I am doing it solely for the purpose of exercise. I also count things that are not really exercise but are kind of not typical for me, like 2 hours of walking around the mall shopping, walking or biking places instead of driving, etc.
Hi Nicole!
I also think that those every day chores are already included in your sedentary burn. At least that's what I calculate - the reason is: before I started CC I also did those things and gained weight! So why should I now account it towards being active for losing weight?
I count my gym or walking to the grocery store or to the library and also walking the dog. Mostly everything that is longer than 15-20 minutes.
Good because That is what I have been doing just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing bad. I have been steady on the weight loss and eating well So I will keep up how I have been doing it.
Thanks for the responses
Read GI Jane's stickied post and follow up Q & A in Weight Loss. Sedentary means you are either wheel chair bound or do nothing more than roll out of bed and then sit all day. If you go shopping, chase children, do errands, have a job, etc..., you are not sedentary. If you live like that and do no formal exercise you are likely lightly active - not sedentary.
Yes, but some of us are still sitting for a good chunk of the day and if we choose "lightly active" we can't add our exercise on top of that... So I always keep my level at sedentary because then I don't have to compensate in any way if I have a lazy day... But I CAN add my exercise if I actually get off my bum and do something... If that makes any sense. :)
