Sedentary or light activity????

Quote  |  Reply

I work in an ofice sitting in a chair almost all day. At home I do household chores, cook, do laundry etc.

I joined CC 2 months back but due to an ankle injury was not able to exercise regularly though i used to walk to and from work (30 min each side) almost 4-5 days a week.

I have been exercising now for almost ten days regularly and hope to stick to the regime if my ankle doesnt go bad again.

I am currently 203lbs, 5'5", female aged 30.

Do i classify as sedentary or lightly active......

Till now i have kept my goal at sedentary and have lost 8 lbs.

please advise...

Cheer up! Congrats for your weight loss. I have read on Project Weight Loss a few ways to stay fit at the office:

Exercise #1:

You may get rid of the neck or back pain, the swollen hands, or swollen legs if you stay with your back on the wall and easily go down. When your legs have a ninety degrees angle at your knees, wait a few seconds, and slowly rise with your legs strained.

Exercise #2:

You must keep your arms around you, make a big step forward, and then a lunge. Repeat the same exercise for the other leg.

Exercise #3:

You may relax your facial muscles if you open and close your mouth fast for a few times. Keep it open for a few seconds.

Exercise #4:

Activate your arm muscles by keeping your hands one in another for five seconds, then relax, and repeat the exercise.

Exercise #5:

If you feel neck pains, try to move your head slowly to the right and left until you feel the shoulder with your head. Don`t move sudden or keep your eyes closed. You should do this exercise for two minutes.

Exercise #6:

Stay straight on the chair, with your legs pressed, hands straight, hanging near your body, and lean one part, then the other, until you reach the floor with your fingers. This may help you lose the back pains.

I'd go for lightly active. Be careful with the ankle, recurrent injuries can make it really difficult to keep up with any activity. If you have one, try wearing a brace on the ankle and make sure you have supportive shoes - I was required by a doc to wear boots for two years my ankle got so bad! Good luck!
