Sedentary - Question

Quote  |  Reply

Hi guys,

I have set my activity level to sedentary. But, these days I study a lot (exam time). I study almost 7-8 hrs a day. Now is that something I would log in my activities? Though its just sitting around and reading I'm sure it burns more calories than someone who is sitting around and watching tv.

Any suggestion on whether i should separately log studying or is it included in being "sedentary"?

I agree that actively thinking burns more calories than "zoning out" (I think there have been many studies to show how many calories the brain uses). However, this site's description of "sedentary" includes working at a computer during the day, which presumably uses brain activity, so I'm not sure that studying counts as extra on top of the sedentary style.

Unfortunately, studying is sedentary. It would be great if using your brain burned calories, almost everyone would be thin!

So, you would need to just keep your activity level as 'sedentary'.

I know when I was in college I would put my professors lectures  on my iPod and go for a run around campus. Just a thought! :]

Oh thats too bad....:( okie then I wont add studying separately.  Starbux thats a good idea especially because I cant work out the 2 weeks of exams as between work and exams and studying for them I have no time left at all.

Maybe I'll start putting audio lectures on my ipod too and go for a run or to the gym, it's easier anyways than sitting on my bed for 7-8 hrs and reading through lecture notes and text.

Thanks guys
