3lbs when I was actually attempting to lose weight a few months ago

8.) How much have you lost since you started losing?
15 lbs

9.) If you have any VERY useful tips on losing weight...
eat often! Properly fuel your body or it'll break down on you. Don't deprive yourself... it's stupid and it'll eventually lead you to reverse all that you've done. Most of all, be realistic... you're not going to look like Hedi or Jessica Biel, those women have TONS of help in losing and maintaining their weight. Do you really see yourself giving up 4 hours a day just to look amazing? Ya, didn't think so.

1.) Age? 40

2.) Height? 5'8"

3.) Weight? 141 yesterday

4.) Goal Weight? 135 for now; will think about 130 when i get there

5.) What is Your daily/weekly exercise? right now, not much.  normally, walking 60-90 minutes 4-5 days/week + running 30-45 minutes 2-3 days/week

6.) About How many calories do you eat a day? i don't count.  probably 1400-1600

8.) How much have you lost since you started losing? 27 pounds

9.) If you have any VERY useful tips on losing weight...  move more

1.) Age? 37

2.) Height? 5'0"

3.) Weight? 145  Started at 250 +

4.) Goal Weight? 135

5.) What is Your daily/weekly exercise? right now, nothing.  I used to ONLY use treadmill during first 6 months of new lifestyle.  Walked 5X a week for 40 minutes.  Dropped 60 lbs in first 6 months.

6.) About How many calories do you eat a day?  1200-1300

7.) What is the most you've lost in a single week? No idea, only weighted in once a month for the first 6 months.

8.) How much have you lost since you started losing? 110 pounds

9.) If you have any VERY useful tips on losing weight...

  1. Buy a vegetable steamer.  Include veggies to EVERY lunch AND dinner.  At dinner time, my plate is always at least 3/4 full of veggies.  I also cook 2-3 different types with every dinner.
  2. Invest in Heart Rate Monitor.  You'd be surprised how "OFF" the machine readouts actually are.  I also find the monitor gives you motivation to just 'burn a few more calories while i"m here...."
  3. Water, Water, Water...did I say drink lots of water?
  4. Ditch the salt.  Mrs. Dash is W O N D E R F U L!!!

~H~

1.) Age? 23

2.) Height? ~166cm (5ft.5)

3.) Weight? It fluctuates between 59-60kgs recently

4.) Goal Weight? 50-52kgs would be fine though most Asians my height are ideally ~47-48kgs

5.) What is Your daily/weekly exercise? I'm pretty sedentary, though I try to brisk-walk to shops near my house, and go for jogging/brisk-walking sessions a few times a week at the park near my house

6.) About How many calories do you eat a day? When I'm "dieting", I limit myself to ~1200, otherwise around 1800 per day if I'm eating normally

7.) What is the most you've lost in a single week? I dunno if it's an error of the scales, but 2 kgs

8.) How much have you lost since you started losing? I used to be ~68kgs once, but I don't recall how I went down to 64kgs. Then I started losing weight seriously, so I'd say I lost ~5kgs since then

9.) If you have any VERY useful tips on losing weight... Don't hurry the process, the weight that you lose gradually really stays off, whereas the weight that you lose in a hurry comes back very easily (from my experience; I once ate only 800-1000 calories for a period of time, gained all the weight I lost back right after I stopped restricting like mad)

1.) Age? 24

2.) Height? 5'7"

3.) Weight? As of this AM 186.0 lbs

4.) Goal Weight? 140 lbs.

6.) About How many calories do you eat a day? Lately it hasn't been the same because of holidays and traveling to see my family.. I eat anywhere between 1200 and 1900 (all are within my allotted amount though, so that is a plus)

7.) What is the most you've lost in a single week? I haven't been on my first FULL week yet, but tomorrow (monday) is... so as of 6 days, I have lost a little over 7.5 lbs.

8.) How much have you lost since you started losing? 7.5 lbs about

9.) If you have any VERY useful tips on losing weight... REALLY LOG all of your foods, even the little handfuls of m and m's or whatever... I Didn't realize how much I was eating until I added up all the "little bites"

beckkahhhx3-

14 year olds are really not supposed to be on diets, and the fact that you say "hmm.." about your calorie intake scares me. If you are 5'5, and 104lbs, your BMI is 17.3, anything under 18.5 is underweight. So, 95-100lbs would just be even more underweight. I would say at your age, to don't count calories. Just try eat enough fruits and vegetables and avoid trans fats. You should not be worried about your weight, its ridiculous.

PLEASE REMEMBER

An adult woman needs 1200 calories per day to survive, a female under 21 or an adult man 1500 per day bare minimum, and a man under 21 1800 per day minimum and that is when SEDENTARY. And this is bare minimum.

Unless you are very, very short and small it is very likely you will need even more calories than those minimum guidelines. If you are 21 or older use CC's tools to work out your BMR. If you are under 21, CC's tools are inaccurate and you should use this calculator instead: http://www.bcm.edu/cnrc/bodycomp/bmiz2.html as you are still growing. Yes, even in the later years - there's more going on inside of you that you simply can't see.

Eating too low a calorie intake, or having a deficit from your BMR greater than 1000 results in something called "survival mode", where your body holds every last thing it can get in expectance of a famine. Water, food, calories. Explained:

  • Dieting & Metabolism - This article explains starvation mode and why undereating is counter productive.
  • The Body Neglected - This is what happens when you undereat for an extended period of time.

The physical dangers that come with undereating and being underweight are numerous. You put yourself at risk of osteoporosis, of loss of libido, hair loss, electrolyte problems, a weakening of the immune system, low blood pressure, blood disorders such as anemia, heart problems, and even death. The mental woes that come alongside can be just as devestating. Depression is common in undereaters, as well as distorted perceptions and problems like Body Dysmorphic Disorder.

Lots!!! It's what i do for a living! As a Dietitian, I am really good at helping my clients lose weight, but not always so good at following my own advise.

Some tips:

-Eat lots of high fiber foods

-Cut way back on any low fiber, processed carbs

-Write down/log everything you eat.

-Weigh yourself weekly or bi-weekly and record in journal

-Consistency is key!! Weight that comes off slowly is much more likely to stay off.

-Don't be unrealistic in your goals. If you are 40 and the last time you weighed 120 pounds was in the 3rd grade...you probably won't get back there.

-Include some healthy fats and protein in every meal it adds lots of satiety value.

-Plan your meals somewhat ahead so you are less likely to grab whatever's convenient at the time.

-Don't keep junk in your house and you are much less likely to consume it.

About how many calories do you eat a day? 1500

What is the most you've lost in a single week? 3 lbs

How much have you lost since you started losing? Lost 10 lbs, but gained some back when I started lifting weights, and now I have lost 4 pounds

If you have any VERY useful tips on losing weight....  Don't deprive yourself too much of certain foods.  If you are craving something, have a couple bites.  I take a bite of something then throw it away because it keeps me from pigging out.  Also, exercise is VERY important as well as counting/cutting calories.  My trainer recommends that I eat A LOT of protein and vegetables.

Age: 21

Height: 5'9

Weight: 171lbs

Goal Weight: 149.6lbs (BMI of roughly 22, and under 150!)

Daily/Weekly Exercise: Aim for 5/6 days a week, not always gym, just something to get heart rate up.

Calories per Day: 1300-2000 depending on what Ive done

Max. Loss in a Single Week: 1-2lbs; losing veeeeery slowly at the moment, but finding it much easier to keep off as Im changing things gradually.

Total Loss: 11lbs

Tips: Exercising doesnt always have to mean monotonous workouts at the gym; join sports, mess around with friends etc.

-Also I second the 'don't deprive yourself' comment above; everything in moderation!
