I really don't want this to turn into a political debate. I'm not asking who you voted for, just want to know how many of you voted or are planning to vote today. I went this morning and voted mainly because my manager kept nagging me to vote all week. Also, because I got to sleep in a little since the polls didn't open until 8am. Plus, I hate when people complain about how much they hate their government but then they do nothing about it. I say go out and VOTE!! Especially young people!! VOTE OR DIE!! Like puff daddy says!! LOL!

I voted. Took a little over an hour.

Voting... standing in line to wait to enter the room where voting takes place (the multipurpose room in an elementary school)... I actually get teary-eyed. This is such a great thing that we all have the opportunity to do, and to stand there with my neighbors, fellow citizens, a very diverse mix of folks in all ways... well, I always have to blink back tears. (This is sooooo sappy, I know, I know.)

Though I am not always proud of what the political process results in, I AM always proud that I can participate in it, that my neighbors can participate in it, regardless of color or religion or gender or income level.

Our election process, though noisy in some respects, is always followed by peaceful transition. This is not the case in many places in the world, and I am grateful that I live somewhere where not only does this happen, it's taken for granted, and that is a wonderful thing.
I am voting tonight... I know it will be hectic after work but its something I gotta do!...

On another note...I am ready for all of the political ads to go away.
AMEN to that, kittykatz!!!!

I already voted!! Go Dick DeVos!! any one esle from michigan???
I'll vote this afternoon. It gives me the opportunity to put my money where my mouth is, so to speak.

*hands another clothespin to the Democratic Incumbants*
I already asked my boss if I could leave during work to vote, and she said "Absolutely!" I love that. I love being a part of this and I love the sense of community I feel with everyone who takes their responsibility seriously, regardless of party or beliefs.

A hearty amen, Athena. I get a little misty thinking about it.
I did.
I voted this morning.  And this is my favorite piece of MN law for today:
204C.04 Employees; time off to vote.

Subdivision 1. Right to be absent. Every employee
who is eligible to vote in an election has the right to be
absent from work for the purpose of voting during the morning of
the day of that election, without penalty or deduction from
salary or wages because of the absence. An employer or other
person may not directly or indirectly refuse, abridge, or
interfere with this right or any other election right of an
employee.

Subd. 2. Elections covered. For purposes of this
section, "election" means a regularly scheduled state primary or
general election, an election to fill a vacancy in the office of
United States senator or United States representative, or an
election to fill a vacancy in the office of state senator or
state representative.

Subd. 3. Penalty. A person who violates this section
is guilty of a misdemeanor, and the county attorney shall
prosecute the violation.

It took me over an hour to vote this morning, but now
I don't feel so bad about that
*raises hand*

It was weird voting on those electronic machines here in OH.  We never had those in NY.  Definitely have to get used to that.  I think I prefer the old way, lol.
Voting tonight.
Voting tonite, as well...:)
I voted last week.  It was so fast and so easy, I don't know why more people don't do it.  I was in and out in about 15 minutes, if that.  I loved the new electronic voting machine.  I hope it doesn't miscount! :)
zooyork, we just got those machines here too, but there was only one available, so I had to wait for one guy to finish before I could get on and vote.
I was the very first person to vote in my polling place this morning at 7:00 a.m.  I had a 7:15 meeting, so I kind of had to go that early, but it was cool being the first one to cast their vote.  :)
I voted this morning... it's the first time I've actually filled out a ballot on election day -- I'm in college so I usually vote absentee back to my home district.  But, there was just so much going on here that I figured I was better informed.

MN lets you register at the polls, so that was another adventure :)

Go democracy! ;)

who esle is republican???
I voted this morning... a 15 minute wait - more than I expected but not bad at all

Edit: they gave me a great big sticker this time... it screams I VOTED! next to a great big flag... I could use it to cover one of my boobs....

longest I ever waited to vote was over 2 hours in 1992
I voted yesterday.

My county is mail-in ballot only.  Which bums me, because I like the old-fashioned, go-to-the-polling-place-and-vote-like-it's-so mething-more special-than-paying-your-bills feeling.

Of course, I liked the old punch ballots, too. Darn Florida!
secret_squirrel, don't you worry that your ballot will get lost in the mail?
I shall be in line to vote in approximately...3½ hours.
