Why am I not seeing a change?
I've recently lost 10 lbs, mainly by drinking more water, not eating as much, and exercising 3 days a week for an hour (no strength training). I've made a plan to up my routine to 5 days a week (1 hour for 3 days and 30 minutes for 2 days) in addition to strength training twice a week. I'm also counting calories, eating 1800 calories a day. Although I've lost 10 lbs, I can't tell much of a difference. My measurements are still the same, and I don't see much of an improvement in my body. Can anybody tell me what I'm doing wrong? How long will it take until I see results? Thanks!
I feel your pain... It depends on your height and body type I think. I have lost about 22 pounds with very MINOR changes to my measurements. I have only noticed that a few of my pants are looser. ( 5'10'' SW 181 CW 159 small frame)
Just stick with it and know that the changes you are making are going to do great things for your health in the long run even if you can't see the changes right now.
Youre not "seeing" results but I bet that if you had gotten your body fat % taken when you started and then compared it to now, you would see a big difference. Youve more than likely replaced fat with muscle-which is good because the more muscle you have, the more calories your body will burn even when youre not working out! CONGRATS!
Give it time. I think it also depends on the type of working out you're doing.
Here's some examples:
Elliptical - Lost inches... never really lost the jiggly fat though
Weight Training - Initially I gained weight, and measurements went up
Dieting - Didn't seem to make too much of a difference since I only had 10 scale lbs to lose and about 8% body fat.
What worked for me: Structure! I alternate weights w/ cardio. Monday is weights (legs), Tuesday is Spin Class (60 mins), Wed is Weights (chest, triceps, shoulders), Thursday is another Spin Class (60 mins), Friday is weights (Back, biceps, & core), Saturday is Running. Sunday is stuff my face day :^)
I have remained the same weight as when I joing the gym 12 months ago (this day-after-thanksgiving makes 1 year). I have lost 22 inches total and went from about 25% body fat at 135lbs to 18% body fat (same weight). I wear a size 4 now... wore an 8 to start.
Keep you diet clean, re-vamp your workout routine every 4 weeks for cardio, and every 6 weeks for weights (or like me I change every 50 days the whole sha-bang). Most of all Good Luck!!! :)
Hope you make your goals
Why am I gaining weight after a gastric bypass?
After a gastric bypass, absorption becomes more efficient over time. And so, unless you have dumping syndrome, assume that absorption is not a problem... Read more
