Seeing colors?

Quote  |  Reply

Recently when I've been working out, I'll see colors, rimming the edges of everything. Not right away, but when I get really tired, and I wanna stop, but I can't cause our S&C coach keeps pushing us. (Or else I would stop, but I feel like I can't) just kinda, faint little rainbows out line everything, and objects that are close to me, seem more..Sharp? If you know what I mean? Then if I keep running for much longer, things start getting harder to hear, kinda, echoey? (But that part hasn't happened for awhile, just the colors recently)

So I was wondering if anyone knew what that means? Am I starting to pass out or something?

I kind of get that too, only instead of colors I see black spots that turn into tunnel vision. and the hearing thing has happened to me too. Its usually if I'm over-tired, dehydrated, or not getting enough oxygen. Talk to your coach about it, and your doctor.

Those are not good symptoms; go see a medical professional with an exercise specialty as soon as possible.

Conditions that can give similar symptoms range from the benign (slight dehydration) to the downright terrifying so it's better to go get a checkup now than later.

YES YOU CAN STOP! Tell your coach what is happening! Are you staying hydrated? Do you wear and understand how to use a HRM? I recommend you see a doctor, ASAP! I don't want to cause panic but as mentioned above, your symptoms could be anything from dehyration to to medical conditions on a much larger scale.

Take care of yourself!

 Thanks, Smile

I'll try and drink more water, and if it doesn't get better, then well.. Maybe I'll talk to my coach.

Talk to your coach and see a doctor regardless of whether or not drinking more water helps.  Many of the huge medical issues can be taken care of or treated when diagnosed early and the longer you let something go the more likely it is to get truly nasty.  It may just be dehyrdration, but it could also be something else in addition.

I keep hearing it could be worse then dehydration, so.. What other things could it be then?

Here's a start.  I googled medical symptoms rainbow vision.  A doctor can run some test to make sure that there's nothing else to look for or make recommendations on what other symptoms to be aware of.

I talked to my coach, he asked me a couple questions then said not to worry about it, but tell him if it starts happening again.

So, I guess it's not a huge deal, he said I'm most likely not getting enough oxygen.
