Seeing Results !

Quote  |  Reply

It has been frustrating losing weight for me, even though the number on the scale keeps getting lower I just didn't feel I was looking any better. A couple months ago I bought some shirts, I bought a couple XL (which fit me OK and were loose enough i didn't feel i had to suck in my gut) and I bought a couple large ( way to tight and make me very self conscious) Last night I decided to try one of the larges on, they have just been sitting in my drawer since I got them. and to my surprise they fit perfectly ! no sucking in of the gut needed ! encouraged by that I got out an old pair of jeans (size 34, I have been wearing 36) and again, they fit perfect ! and look pretty good too !

so yup I am feeling pretty good about now Laughing

I have this shirt I bought at a renaissance festival about 6 months back, Its a large, but its on the small side. it was the only one they had and I really liked it so I got it anyway. It was skin tight and I have never worn it, that shirt is my goal, once i can put that shirt on and it fits normal Tongue out

anyway its just nice to start noticing some results, it makes it all the easier to continue...

Congrats! That's awesome, keep up the good work!

I just went out and bought some new clothes, what fun !

Congrats!  What a great feeling to see the results!  Way to go...keep up the good work!

That’s great, congrats! 34 jeans for a guy is a good size to be in.

The same thing happened to me I went to Old Navy for a tank & had to go 2 sizes smaller! And I’m voluptuous so I ALWAYS have to buy bigger shirts otherwise I look like I’m in a wet T-shirt contest.

I have dropped down 2 sizes also wearing a large shirt and 36 inch jeans down from 2xl shirts and 42 inch jeans. But the stupid thing about it is everytime I walk pass that stupid mirror that covers an entire wall in my house I stop to look at my body but I see no difference from when I was 50 pounds heavier.

Although my clothes tell me I'm smaller and people on the street tells me that I'm looking like I sick I still don't see it.

haha. that's so great! i can't wait until I get there.

the world will know because they'll hear my shouts. lol GOOD FOR YOU! stay encouraged.

Congrats!!!!! I know it takes time, but its all worth it. Keep up the good work.

I felt pretty good abut wearing a smaller size, so I went and took a picture of myself. well there went that happiness ! I don't think I look any different at all, I'm embarrassed to go outside now !

still so far to go, I don't see how losing the final 25 pounds is goint to make much difference because the first 25 haven't...

oh well time will tell...

I was told that for every 10 pounds, you should (as a guy) go down 2" in waist size.  That probably doesn't apply to people on either extreme of the scale.  But it's worked reasonably well for me.  I started off at 207 with a 38" jeans, and am down to 174 and a 32" jean size.  In my profile pic (soon to be replaced, I think), that's me in my 38" pants.

In some ways, it sure has been good to be able to buy new clothes, but having to go through 3 sets of pants in 4 months is a little much, cost-wise.  Many of my shirts also hang on me like my dad's hand-me-downs as well, but what are you going to do?  I'm starting to replace some of them, but now I'm planning on building up a bit.  I know that won't happen nearly as rapidly as I lost the weight, but still... Of course, shirts that fit tight in the arms, shoulders and chest are likely much more attractive than ones that fit tightly in the belly. :)

Congrats, and good luck with the remainder!  Although it sounds like you've got things pretty much under control, and won't need much luck.  Just perserverance.

My weight is all in my stomach, even at 240 i was only wearing a 36 waist, and had to wear a belt to keep them up. sometimes it just seems like i have so much farther to go ! but then you read about other people on here who have to lose or have lost hundreds and my 55 or 60 pounds doesn't seem so bad.. and hey i only have bout 25 or 30 pounds to go, thankfully losing weight is easy, it just takes time...

Why not take a tape measurement just of your stomach if that's where your excess weight settled?  Measure again each month and you should see the proof of what you are accomplishing.  I've lost around 40lbs since November (with 90 more to go) and I see little difference, but tight clothes are loose now! So it obviously is there!  As for being embarrassed to go outside, c'mon, you've been doing that for years... That's what I tell myself anyway!

You should know that as someone who has had weight issues, you will always see and think of yourself as someone who is fat; this is why someone with anorexia can think that at 82 pounds they still look fat.  Cut yourself some slack; accept that this is where you are right now but you have already had some dramatic success with the decreasing clothes sizes and you are still  working at losing weight.  We are our own worst critics.

I'm feeling the same way you are on this. I lost 50 pounds so far with 15 more to go to reach my short term goal. All of my clothes fall off me wiht little effort. But everytime I look in the mirror I see the same person that I was 50 pounds heavier.

I wonder if I will notice anything when I lose the other 15 pounds. doubtful on that

Actually I havent went outside for like a year, heh..

It only took me about a year to put all that weight on, I have lost a lot very quickly, now its slowing down. which I knew it would, It's not like I am going to stop losing weight. It's noticeable, when I'm laying flat in bed it doesn't look like there is a mountain in front of me etc...

still a long ways to go before I am happy with how I look though, by October or November I should be there....

Well done on your weight loss, it's so good to read of successes like your's!

if you want a reminder of how far you have come.....the next time you are in a grocery store, pick up two 20 pound bags of dog food (or bags of rock salt)  and walk around in the store awhile.  you are doing magnificent.  i hope my decline in weight will be as dramatic as yours.

get out there and have fun.

Congratulations!  Its always nice to see the changes.  Keep it up.

Stay with it so you can get into that shiet,LOLOL!!! DAC 250

I am so glad someone brought this up I know i have lost weight my clothes fit looser and yet i can look at my self in the mirror and see a little difference but then i look at myself in a picture and I don't see no results what is it ????are we mentally stuck in how we saw ourselves???? then how we should see ourselves ????? and i really think those mirrors at the gym are made to see yourself as overweight ( FAT MIRRORS) and the scale is rigged to make you seem like you weigh more than you do  lol lol

I completely understand!! I used to hold up my pants when doing laundry and think OMG is my rear that big???? REALLY???? Now I hold up a cute pair of denim shorts and think there is NO WAY those are going to fit, and lo and behold they slip on with plenty of room to spare!! Let me pull a muscle trying to pat myself on the back. LOL Good luck everyone and keep on keeping on, that is how I am doing it, 1 meal, 1 snack, 1 good choice vs. bad choice at a time!!
