Seeking Accountibili-buddies!

Quote  |  Reply

Well hello there CCers.

I am looking for an accountibili-buddy. I -hate- exercise. So I need someone to motivate me.

I have no level of fitness right now. I do own an elliptical which gets sporadic use.

I am looking for someone who does not mind daily check ins and acountibility measurements.

Anyone is welcome, the more accountability the better. I would like to design a workout routine together so that we are doing the same things on the same days. Discussing frustration, motivation and difficulty with the same things.

EDIT** If you want to join us at any time feel free to start checking in with your workout frustrations and motivations.

Please list your personal fitness goals. I'll start.

Personal goals:

Run 2 miles

60 crunches in 2 min

30 pushups in 2 min

25 burpees in 2 minute.

30 eight count bodybuilders in 2 min.

continuous planks for 2 min.

Personal Goals:
Be able to lift 150 pounds.
Do 50 Crunches without stopping.
Do 100 Push Ups without stopping.

Sounds great Axylum!!

Do you work out currently? I don't Foot in mouth. If you do what are your current abilities? I can not do even one push up! I can't sustain a run. Well heck, I can't do much of anything.

What do you think we should start with? What seems like a good first week work out routine to you?

I need an accountability buddy too! I love working out, but often don't have the time. I'm more concerned with working out consistently; doing five days of cardio a week and three of toning, then setting more goals once those are reached. Your goals sound pretty intense... 25 burpees in 2 minutes. Wow!

I too need some accountability.  My fitness goals are basic:  FIRST-get off my butt and do something!!!!.  I have the 30 day shred and love it.  It's getting nice and I want to run.  I was doing soooooooo good a few months ago but it seems like I can't bring myself to work out and have gained back about 5 or 6 pounds.

Mon/Tues/Wed-get up 5:50 am-warm up on treadmill then do the 30 day shred and 20-30 minutes on the treadmill.  Thurs/Fri-power sculpt video and long run outside (for me it's about 2-3 miles with some walking involved).  Also want to try the burpee goal.

Well-thats were I am.  I don't think I can log every day but I will keep track.  Good Luck with your goals-lets kick some butt!!!!!!

I too need this. Its not that I do not like working out. I have no one to motivate me. I have been over wieght for years now. I have tried every diet. The only one that actually helped me loose the weight was the 1200 calories. Its not easy but I did it for over three weeks and lost as much as 15lbs in three weeks.

Trying to motivate myself is another problem that I have and need that push to get me out of the house and do things outside.

If you live in Castro Valley, CA. It would be nice to have firends that are willing to walk or run or bike together.

Well there is no time like the present.

What did you do today?

me: 20 minutes of resistent band training. It was super hard, as I have nooooooo muscle strength. I also got on my elliptical for 30 months.

I hope you all were able to exercize today.

If you haven't, go on a walk... NOW!

*How are we going to succed if we never even try?*

Well these are long time goals. Since I don't do much of anything now, One burpee in two minutes seems like a lot. EEPS. Sorry for the double post.

If you never reach for the sky, you'll never fly.

There is a challenge in the Games forum you might like to try too.  Its to set an amount of minutes you'll work out in a month -- sign ups are always open so you can start right away

That's great Emily! I didn't do any exercise yesterday, I'm not going to lie... I started my summer job and I'm so sore from that! However, I know it's burning extra calories, so I'm not too torn up about it (excuse the pun).

I'm not working today, so I plan to go for a 30 - 60 minute run and maybe do some toning. I've been doing this "Beach Body Workout":

it seems like a good way to tone at home. Hope you're having an active day!

H.

I have to say that I too did not work out.  I had every intention to after work but the kids got home and my husband was actually home this week so we all went to dinner.  No real excuse.  I could have worked out but chose to have a beer with my husband.   So maybe today I will do better.

Plan to do on my walk/run this afternoon and maybe do the 30 day shred later.  Will let ya know.

Good Luck-Work Out!!!!

Well atleast I am not the only one who didn't work out yesterday! My hubby and I had plans to run our doggies, but he was tuckered out when he got home yesterday. I know I could have gone by myself, probably shoulda.

Today after diner husband and I are going to play basketball. It is good cardio for me. I am planning on playing for at the minimum thirty minutes.

Lets all plan on something tomorow!

What do you all think about making a plan together so that we know our accountibili-buddies are going through the same pain we are. (not that working out is painful but you know what I mean.)

Let me know what you think!!

Sure, a plan is a good idea. Maybe we could set a goal for minutes of physical activity or something? Today I did some toning for a little under two hours a la "Beach Body Workout". No cardio though... I look forward to hearing about how everyone else made out :).

Wow way to go with your two hours!! Thats super awesome. I didn't do near two hours today. I did the hardest walk/run of my life though. I had to stop when I started dryheaving ((yes hydrate, I know Hubby already scolded me for that one))

I know there is already a contest going for how many minutes people work out each day http://caloriecount.about.com/roll-call-may-e xercise-challenge-ft137325 So if you wanted to do that I think that would be a good place to start.

Good luck tomorow!

Haha, thanks Emily! (It was a lazy two hours all the same...). Yesterday I did about 45 min of brisk walking because I had some errands to run. Today I won't be doing any official exercise because I'm working from 9:00 - ?, which means I could be working about 6-8 hrs, on my feet cooking. I'll be exhausted, for sure!!

Glad to hear about your walk/ run. Where did you go? Was it long/ fast? Running can be so much fun once you get into it. I bet you felt great afterwards (once you got some liquids into you).

How did the Wyoming friend do? How is the 30 min Shred? I've never tried it.

Look forward to hearing from everyone! :).

We have this walking track that goes around our housing complex. I think its about a half mile, though I have never measured it. I went around it three (might have been four but I kind of lost count) times. It took me a half hour with the walk/run combo.

As a cook I bet you burn lots of Cals everyday. I couldn't imagine being on my feet ALL day. I think I would be plain pooped after that.

And yes I felt great after the walk/run. It reinforced the fact that I *HAVE* to quit smoking. So Today I am going to go buy some nicarette (sp?) and a pair of good running shoes.

I am also curious as to how eveyone else is doing. Whered everyone go? o.O

Well, I'm actually a university student, so I'm pretty sedentary most of the time. However, I just started this summer job at Pizza Delight, so I'll be cooking and waitressing. Helloo calorie inferno :). I'm not going to let it stop me from improving my fitness though...

It's awesome that you have a walking track right where you live. I live in a small university town, so I could walk to the nearby track as well. So you did about a mile and a half! That's awesome!! Good luck buying the health and fitness supplies today! Quiting smoking is HARD. My uncle and father have both done it though, so I'm sure you can too :).

I'm butting in though I wasn't invited? *g*

Hilary, working there could be the best thing that's happened to you. The last thing you want to see after cooking pizza all day is pizza! You'll be sick of the smell, the look, that greasy feeling that lingers in the air all day while you're cooking it... You'll HATE pizza!

Novileigh- Everyones invited. The best way to motivate eachother is with more people. So far it seems that ist just Hilary and I. You can stay if you like. (tries not to beg)

I agree 100% about not wanting pizza. I worked at a pizza joint one summer. I just wanted to scream if I got home and pizza was for diner. After you cook it all day and smell it and get burned by it you kind of lose the desire to eat it.

I got some newbalance shoes. My husband is in the army and they are the brand that he buys. So I made sure to get the ones with the arch supports, because I have high arches. I was almost shocked when I went to the store and saw some of the shoes for almost 200 dolors!! EEEEPS I usually buy my shoes at walmart. So these are the most expensive shoes I have ever bought. But I guess its better then hurting my knees or ankles being cheep.

I bought the nicotine gum today. I am going to start quitting on monday though. We are having a bbq this weekend and ALL of our friends smoke. So I figured I shouldn't start to quit at a time where someone will (most likely) always have a cig lit.

Ok off to make a salad, guacamole, and then for a walk/run. I am smart today I have been loading up on the water so I don't get sick.

Good luck with your long shift today.

emily - in that case, I think I'll stick around!

I guess this would be the time for intros? I'm Novi, 24, Ohio. My weight has been hovering around 192 lately, but my gym does measurements/body fat compositions every month, so I'm waiting to see if it comes out in my favor. My goal is to get into either an average weight range, or a low-overweight at least! No longer being technically "obese" make me really proud. Its been my goal for a while to get myself physically ready to do the P90X program, and I'm almost there, though I'm scared to death still!

I get the Asics shoes, myself. The other wide athletic shoes all look so... butchy.

I'm still alive!! I agree though, the last thing I want is pizza now that I work there... the same thing goes for pasta and caesar salad. I think I made like a hundred last night! :/. Not appetizing!

How did the exercise go last night, Emily? It's a good idea not to quit smoking this weekend. As I understand, it's a gradual process like weight loss.

Novileigh, it's nice to meet you! Weight loss is so hard, but it's great that you're motivated to make a change. Do you have any specific fitness goals?

Today I plan to do some toning with the "Beach Body Workout" and go for a 20 - 30 min walk (to drop off a movie). If I have time, I'll go for a little jog around the campus.

Look forward to hearing from you guys :).
