Seeking like-minded friends
Alright, well, I have been using this site for almost a week now and in my search for friends and weight-loss buddies, I have gotten a little frustrated in the fact that everytime I click on a link to someone's profile that I might think is in the same boat as me, I find out that they are actually already 110 lbs and desperately trying to lose more.
I don't want to sound insensitive, I know that many of these girls/guys are really in need of help, but its been frustrating to me as I try to find friends with the same goals/problems/situations as me.
So I'm opening it up to you guys to add me if you'd like, and I will reciprocate. About me:
- Height: 5'1 or 5'2, I'm not actually sure
- Age: 24
- Starting weight: 174
- Current weight: 170
- Goal weight: 127, or losing about 45 lbs
I'm an professional artist/calligrapher, and also a musician, I teach guitar lessons and play in a couple of bands with my husband. I fancy myself a bit of writer...I write in my journal on here almost everyday and I try to keep my journal updates funny or inspiring...I want others to learn from my mistakes and when I learn a valuable lesson on this weight loss journey I want to share it with lots of other people. I believe its important to have a group of friends to share in the journey with and that's why I' here. My hobbies are reading, animals/wildlife, hiking, archeology, history, cooking.
I'm looking for friends who are:
- Serious about making healthy lifestyle choices
- have a significant amount of weight to lose to get down to a healthy BMI
- any age, height, location, etc
- on the site on a semi-regular basis
- not looking for a quick-fix, trying to reach size 0 or trying to reach unreasonable goals for the wrong reasons
So if this sounds like you, or if I sound like the type of person you might get along with, please add me as a friend, drop me a little note. Just a warning...I tend to be kinda wordy :-) so people with short attention spans or problems reading in English might tire of me quickly.
Good luck on your weight loss journeys everyone!
As a 5'2" lazy as all get out (trying to change this a bit at a time) started at 182, now 168, aiming for 150 as a first goal. After the holidays I am intending to start a "Phase II" attempt where I up my calories/protein on workout days and start a weight lifting program.
I am on 1200 calories per day, with increases for those times when I get off my arse and do something and a "free day" (maintenance) on Sunday afternoon where I go out to dinner and make healthy choices but don't count calories.
I am always interested in meeting new people. Before beginning my calorie counting adventure, I had already cut out most HFCS and partially hydrogenated soybean oil from my diet. Every baby step counts.
Well, I have all those things in common with you. only differnce is I have already lost a decent amount. But maybe that can help you out. I was 181 when I started in June and I've gotten to 153ish as of today. But I am aiming for about 135-140, so not too skinny, and I love writing and commenting in journals as well. I log in M-F and weekends when I can. Feel free to add me if you want. ![]()
I meet all of those but am just a bit more than halfway to my goal (stats etc are on my profile). I can always use more friends! I'll be yours if you'll be mine ![]()
Thanks for replying guys :-D I guess I should just add to my requirments that it doesn't matter *where* you are on your weight loss journey. I'd LOVE to have friends that are already halfway to their goal as well as people that are just starting out. I mean...how encouraging is that?
Hi Ladies,
I have pretty similar stats to all of you;
26 years old
5'4
SW 191
CW 170
I hope to get down to 130, it feels like it's so far away though! I am so impatient, I think if I have a good day I should see an immediate drop on the scale, so lately my goal is to only weigh myself once a week. Hopefully next time I weigh in (tomorrow) I will be in the 160's!!!
Hi heatherkparks, I agree that it can be difficult, even frustrating, to find like minded buddies on cc. Just a part of being in this great big web world of ours though :)
I actually took a bit of time this weekend and buddied some new friends on CC- people who I had noticed to be both sane and sensible in their lifestyle approach as well as being committed to a long-standing change, but also humorous & forgiving with their faults and failings.
I hope that makes sense - it's been a long day & I'm dead tired, yawn!
I'm also grumpy right now because I just noticed that my sedentary burn went down another 30 - I now burn just 1710. I think it was 1840 originally. Uggh. Yes, at one point I did have a significant amount of weight to lose...but it seems as if these last few pounds are just as difficult to be rid off as the 1st 40 pounds were. It's a struggle to get a 1lb weekly loss.
Mia - Female, 5'7", sm/med build, age 43, now 44yo
SW: 206 lbs on 06 Jan 2009
Quit Smoking: 24 Mar 2009
CW: 163 lbs
(for about the last 6 weeks - I'm ready to fight back hard now, tired of seeing that number!)
That's 42+ pounds gone, need another 4 gone to make it into the lower bmi - 24.9). Really need to work on getting the fat off my waist and hips...stubborn! My face, chest, neck & arms are shriveling away but my tummy stays put....my 1st plan of attack is to take it to some really scary Halloween haunted houses...maybe it'll run off screaming! ha ha
