i need some advice. i realize that you aren't doctors (well some of you might be), but i think i had a seizure the other day.

i was typing away in my journal, at around 4 am and i started to stare... staring is quite common for me. then my arms started to twitch a little and i felt like i was going to fall out of my chair. then i saw my sister doing her hair in a picture frame (and she's not even in the picture) and then it was finished. i should mention that i had gone over 24 hrs with no sleep...

it could have been a reaction to medication that i take (and am not supposed to take - but that's a different story) but i've been taking this medication for a long time and i haven''t increased the dose at all. i thought my body was sort of used to it... but maybe not.

does anyone have any experience with seizures which are not caused by epilepsy?

anything you can provide will be helpful.

thanks =^..^=

I don't know a bout sezuires, but sleep deprivation can cause a lot of problems. Why aren't you sleeping for over 24 hours?
i don't know... i think it's anxiety....
There is a thing called absence seziures. Its also possible that you have that, but the hallicination makes me think sleep deprivation.

Either way I think you should talk to a doctor about both issues.

This could be totally unrelated, but look up sleep paralysis. It's happened to me several times during my life...usually when I'm super sleep deprived (mostly in college, lol). I lose control of my body and can't move or speak. Sometimes I see movies of pictures for a few seconds and then I suddenly snap out of it. From what I can gather, it almost sounds a bit narcoleptic (sp?).

My dad was diagnosed with partial temporal lobe seizures. People say he kind of spaces out for about 30 seconds and he has "flashes" of images and sometimes a strange smell while he's out of it. He never falls or flails but he's definitly in a semi-daze. When it's over he's OK. He says that usually he can sense one coming on but not always. You can have a seizure disorder and not ever have a full-blown seizure. My sister was diagnosed with a mild seizure disorder after blacking out for hours at a time but functioning normally. She would just suddenly come out of it and now know how 2 hours had passed OR how she ended up in the grocery store. She's only had 3 episodes but after a scan they said she had mild abnormal brain activity. Drinking alcohol and sleep deprivation seemed to be her main triggers.

I would definitly seek professional help with this one.
