How can you be fine with the way you naked but once you put clothes on be paranoid about the way you look?

I look at myself in the mirror a million times a day. When Im getting dressed, undressed, or when I am fully dressed. I like the way I look with underwear on but once you add pants I hate it. Once you put pants on it pushes everything up and out, and no Im not wearing pants that are too tight. Ive tried pants that fit and now I find myself buying pants that are a size too big. I even bought a waist slimmer like spanx. How do I make my self esteem better? How do I learn to like my body again?

'Cos some styles (hip-huggers, skinny-jeans, low-rise) are just seriously unflattering to some body shapes - you need some clothes that complement your natural shape instead of trying to fight it ;)

Me, personally, I have no sense of style so I wouldn't know where to begin making suggestions to you, but I betcha there are a lot of people who can advise you on how to get the most flattering fit of clothes possible.

Im the exact oposite. I cant stand the way i look naked, but the clothes I chose to wear make me look better

Have you tried high-waisted jeans? Not the most gorgeous things to look at I will admit but once you add a top you cant even tell when people are wearing them, ive got a couple of nice pairs that I really like and I wear them with a top that doesn't hug my body too tightly, it can stop that muffin top look if that's what ur worried about :)

the muffin top look is exactly what im worried about, I have tried many style of jeans and I have yet to find one that fits right. Thanks ladys!

You may just need to keep looking at different stores and find some clothes that work for you and make you feel sexaay.  Many winter clothes aren't made to make you look "thinner" since a lot of the clothes are made to keep you warm and layer which can hide our nice curves and what not.  I say just keep looking and keep your head up.  We are our own worst critics.

P.S. When I incorporated weights into my workouts it did a wonder for my self-esteem.

Everyone above has some really good tips.  But in relation to self esteem, I'd like to add some suggestions:

- Everday, make a list of ten thing you like about your body.  They can be silly, small, unusual- as long as they're positive.

- Don't focus on trying to look perfect, or like a supermodel.  Just stive to look  as good as you can right then.  Maybe your hips will always be wide- but that makes you curvy!  Deliciously curvy!

- When you go shopping, don't be afraid to ask friends or store clerks for advice.  Sometimes it's easier for others to judge what you need, rather than yourself.

Something else I thought of which might benefit you is just having some staple items tailor made for your shape. Expensive but you will look amazing because they will be perfectly fitted :)

Wow, I could have been the one writing this post.  I have exactly the same problem.

I don't have curvy hips, and that's why I have the muffin top when I put on pants.

I watch What Not to Wear all the time, hoping to get some ideas for my body shape, but it seems most of the participants are pears or hour glasses.  Or at least they have big boobs.  If I had big boobs it would detract from my thick middle.

Anyway, I feel for you.  It's a shame we lose our self esteem over something so stupid, but we do.  We see too much on tv and in magazines.  I mean, look at how they literally pick apart each woman on the red carpet at awards shows.  It's no wonder we do the same to ourselves.  If we don't see a flaw in ourselves, we certainly will after watching one of those shows.Frown

I like luthien_j's idea.  It's something I'm going to look into soon.

Don't wear pants! It's pretty much that simple :)

Seriously, though, I'm definitely not a pants person. I love leggings b/c they have that touch of spandex that keeps them fitting smoothly without being tight. I buy skirts, dresses, tunic tops, etc., to go over them. The only pair of jeans I have were broken in by my sister, who "outgrew" them and gave them to me. They are high waisted and not uncomfortable, but I can't wear jeans at work.

My problem begins in the summer when leggings are too warm!
