Self-tanning lotion uneven around fingers!!! (But works fine everywhere else)

Quote  |  Reply
I've been using this tanning lotion by L'oreal, and I'm pretty happy with it for the most part.  The only problem is that no matter how evenly I try to spread it around my fingers, there are always these white streaks (usually around the sides of the fingers). Everywhere else, it goes on rather evenly. I've been using it for a while, and it's always the same thing, no matter how carefully I try to spread it.

Is there something I need to do differently to avoid this? Or can someone please recommend a (fast-working) tanner that doesn't do this?

I use Jergens natural glow. I never put it on my hands though. I always wash them off after applying the lotion. Tanning lotion soaks in differently on places like hands, elbows, knees and ankles. Those are the places I avoid.

I also sometimes use Neutrogena Micro mist tanner. It's a spray and works in a couple of hours. It really easy to, it sprays upside down gets your back evenly.

But then, don't you end up with pale hands and dark skin? :/ To me, that's just as bad as streaky fingers
It usually says on the bottle to wash hands thoroughly after use.....

You don't want the palms of your hands and the tops of them the same colour do you??

i wash my hands after applying the lotion but i try to use soap on the palms and only water on the tops and pat dry. i don't know about your fingers, maybe try to get lighter and lighter as u get to the fingers. like, your arm regular, tops of hands a little lighter and fingers the lightest so that it's not noticeable that your fingers are not perfect. What L'oreal lotion do you use?

I have very pale English rose skin so I'm a bit of an expert fake tanner, it must be your lucky day lol.

You should always exfoliate before tanning (I just use a body brush and circular movements) and apply moisturiser to elbows, knees, ankles and hands before the fake tan. I always apply my tan wearing latex gloves (the medical type ones) then take them off and squeeze a tiny amount of the fake an onto the back of one of my hands, then rub it in using the back of my other hand, if that makes sense. So none of the tan touches my palms and they don't go orange. I get best results when I spend a long time rubbing in the tan on the back of my hands, making sure it blends with the wrists etc. practise makes perfect Smile

Also gradual tanning lotions are good if you can be bothered with the effort of applying them a few days in a row because when you do make mistakes they aren't as dramatic and can be corrected more easily.
