September, 2008 - we now have a group!  It's called 60s 70s and Higher!  There are also age specific groups for all ages.  Please stop in an join, and please do participate.

Time for all of us older members to get to know each other.  All the youngsters have made themselves known so now it's our turn.

I was 65 in April, 2007, and happily retired.

How about you?

I was about to give up until I read some of the senior posts.  I have been loosing the same 5 lbs, down, then back up, with no apparant reason.  I've decided not to stick with the calorie allotment given me on my profile but to re-check it every day on the allowance page.  Maybe I need to flucuate my intake.  Any one experience the same?  Oh, 56, if you must know.
Happy March everyone!

Let's start this month of with a new attitude for weight loss. I have been at this diligently since 1/22 and have only lost 1.5 lbs with no more than 1400 calories a day, even on weekends!  Talk about metabolism slowing down, I'm not 50 yet!  (Sept)  I exercise at the gym 3-4 x week but to no avail. I'm not giving up now just out of anger !

I love reading all your emails and realize there are some wonderful committed women out there (and men too!).
Hi all , another jr. member here weighed in Tues. lost 6lbs. it's stress but oh well atleast something good comes of it. This weekend I 'm going to try going to gym and do something. I just finished p.t. and my knees and feet are doing better. Cant wait for spring so can work in yard. It's cold and wet today so yucky. I'm doing okay with my tracking of cal. still need to do better but because of some crazy personal problem (see journal if interested, can always use prayers ) i'm doing okay. take care all have a good evening.

Hi lovely people! I'm 53 and have been overweight my whole life - was 250 when I was 10, 291 is my starting weight here.

I'm very young at heart...love rock & roll - old & new.  Hubby is 58 but acts like he's a teenager yet...lol...hopefully we'll stay young at heart.

I've been noticing the different groups being posted and wondered if there was an "over 50" group, so thank you for starting this!  I could also belong to "over 200", "addicted to sweets", "exercising sucks", "grandparents r us", "my dog rules the roost"...I digress...lol.

Nice to have a great place like CC to help me through this life change.

Dona :-)

So many of  these posts sound like something I could have written. In last two months, I"ve lost one pound. I did lose 8 last summer, but only because I was ill. When I started to get better, it came back. I'm going to give it another try, and hopefully this time it will stay off.

I have a question about the journal feature. I'd like to use it to keep track of what I am doing, mainly as information for myself. Can it be totally  private or open to only select friends?

Poangel4 I added you to my friends list. I started Jan 31st at 210 as of today I am 200, I almost gave up last week but a co-worker of mine has been doing cc for awhile and told me she lost 62 pounds. and she showed me her ups and down. I am so prood of her. i discided to keep going. glad to here you are with us. These area of conversation help me alot also.

Linda
Hi I am Linda and I was 58 in November
Linda,

Thank you for being my friend.  I've added you to my list also.  I will post more next week as we plan to go away for the weekend, weather permitting.  Remember, one bite is too much and a thousand is never enough.  Good day.
Look at all the new posts!  Welcome to everyone who just found us.  We really do have some special things in common.
Hi all , I'm going to try and get some walking in today since knees and feet are doing better. Trying to work off stress. My husband of  31 years (soon to be ex) is moving out Monday. He'll be gone all weekend ??? So I can relax around the house.  I have to go look for a t.v. this weekend he's taking his 50" so I'll need something to watch. I'm not a hugh t.v. watcher but I like afew things, Gray's A. and American Idol, So I figure a normal 27 - 32 " should work fine for me. Good lord , I've gone on and on about a stupid t.v. (sorry you all)   Well anyways I went out to dinner with a friend last night . We've been friends for 35 years and been through alot together. Had a real nice time. Had salad with grilled shrimp. Staying on track with cals. Probably more  of problem with getting enough right now  but I can spare afew cals. I need to get ride of 40 lbs. and boy I realized how bad the soon to be ex made me feel about myself. If anyone has any advice to get through this, feel free to go to my journal and write me, or add to me to friend list and I'll add you. Have a great weekend
Hi Everyone,

I just joined CC this morning, feeling desperate right about now about my weight, have been overweight most of my adult life, fortunate in the fact that my weight is evenly distributed, and no one believes that I weigh as much as I do; but I swear all my weight is in my upper arms, well 3/4 of it :-).  I don't think I've swore a sleevless top since I was in my teens.

I'm 63 yrs young (64 on April 17), still working full time, mother of 4 grown sons, grandmother of 11 ranging in ages 23 - 2-1/2 yrs.  I had my sons very young in life and feel like I grew up with them.

It is great to find that there others in my age bracket that feeling the same things I am, I swear I could have written part of each of your stories.

Why as human beings do we think we are the only ones going through something that no one else will understand, only to find out that we are not alone, and that others do understand that they've been there also.

Right now my exercising is light to moderate, I walk as much as I can about 10 minutes in the morning, and 10 minutes in the evening.  I've always been a fairly healthy eater, don't like red meat very much, prefer fish, fruits, vegetables but there are times when I over indulge to say the least.

I am so happy I found CC and others my age that are going through the same thing, and can understand where I am coming from.

Have a good Sunday everyone.
Hi everyone, Still here, doing okay. I took my mom to walmart (super walmart) she's starting to have problems with memory and stuff, well anyways I LOST her for an hour. We'll be going to the smaller grocery stores for now on. This happens everytime we go to the store. I just need to take her for her stuff and go do my shopping without her since in need to focus on her. The sun is out and I'm off to get a newpaper  and lunch stuff for the week. I weigh in on Tuesday night. Talk to you all then. Have a healthy and happy week.
Welcom raceyred!  So glad to have you aboard...Yeah, it's funny how we all tend to think that we are unique and nobody else has ever felt the way we do...rather self-centered....Perhaps if we remembered that others have feelings just like we do this world wouldn't be in such a mess...

Anyway, I'm not here to solve the problems of the world...All I can do is lend support and encouragement to those who also trudge this road of a healthy lifestyle....

Oh my goodness gypsierose!  I bet you burned off a few calories in your panic to find your mother!  Sorry you had to go through that experience but at least maybe it got your metabolism moving for awhile....(I'm really trying to find the good in every experience!)

Enjoy the rest of your weekend folks....I'm in the midst of trying to vacuumn up a week's worth of my German Shedder Dog!

Hi all. It's a sunny day here and hopefully it will be warm. Spring is getting close, and today I'm starting my seeds in a seed tray:). Yesterday I painted my kitchen (all but the bits I cannot reach. My husband has been assigned those areas :) ).

Today though, I'm taking a day off...sortof :). My husband is working today, so we're going in to have lunch with him. After that, I have a little necessary shopping to do. I'd rather just enjoy the sunshine, but it can't be helped. I have a roast out for dinner tonight and my son has a rousing game of Pokemon Monopoly planned for the evenings's entertainment ;)

Hi there.....my name is Kas and this is my first visit to the lounge.  I will be 52 on 23rd this month.  I am married for the second time, have two adult married kids from marriage number one and my daughter (and son-in-law) presented me with a beautiful grandson in August 2006.  I work as a full-time library assistant which I love.
Welcome corsincon...Hope you enjoy your stay here.
Good Morning Everyone,

You are right jem599 it is very self centred to think that we are so unique that we are the only one's experiencing a certain feeling, and we are so unique.  As individuals we are unique, but we are not unique in some of the feelings we experience.

I am so sorry to hear about your Mother Gypsierose, I lost my Mom 4-1/2 years ago and I miss her terribly, but noticed during the the few years of her life that our roles become reversed, it was like I was the parent and she the child, however, my brother felt it much more than I did as he lived with her, and had to deal with her and I have a lost respect for him for doing this.

I really like CC, keeping track of everything you put in your mouth, and being able to share what you are going through with others.  Have a great day everyone and welcome to those of us who are new to this.
Hey f1gment, I bought my starter seed planters too. I 'm going to work on that tonight and put on the kitchen windowsill.

I'm also getting ready to paint my kitchen. We moved in here in Nov. and were suppost to remodel the kitchen but since soon to be x moved out I have to find another way to fix the kitchen.Going to paint the cabinets to start and change knobs. It's a start and have to paint walls and will have to have someone else do the floor.

Have to get ready for work . Springbreak is 1st week of April  but no breaks/holidays  in March. I get my 1st allergy shot today. Have a healthy week everyone.
I'm very excited today!  I met my first mini goal of a 25 pound weight loss!  HOORAY!! I began on 1/2/07, and have a very very long way to go, but I am so grateful for this beginning...

Here's to a GREAT week!!
Today marks 4 weeks since my surgery.  I can now exercise a little and start repairing sails again.  A little at a time.  In the past 4 weeks I have seen my family physician and I have been taken off my Blood Pressure pills and my water pill.  (Wish I could stay on that one since I gained 2 lbs.)  I have my own BP machine and I took it at the same time as the doctor in his office and it was almost identical so I am using it and so far so good.  I have lost 22 pounds and have 30 to 35 to go.  I am finding it hard to get back into the groove of things since the operation.  But as of today it is a new beginning.  Have a good week everyone!
