Sept Challenge - Team Dynamite Boast and BLAST!

This thread is for Team DYNAMITE!  This roster is still growing and at this time includes:
  • Nymo (Team Captain aka whip cracker)
  • PamperedKeri2000
  • HollowAgain
  • Lyndalyn
  • PandaJenn19
  • ReadnChick
  • LilyDream35
  • tinytot
  • d24k1968
Of the current list I have reviewed posts and profiles of most of you.   Oh yes, you're fearless leader has been quietly busy at work!

What I'd like to do is get a thread going for us (it's our thread!  ours, ours, OURS!)  so we can meet and greet, or as I put it in the subject line, Boast and Blast.   Tell us about yourself.  This is turning out to be quite the challenge, so lets lay it all out and see what cards we're playing with.

Some things I'd like to know and discuss:  First of all, are you in a regular habit of logging your food and activities on the site?  What is your typical routine  as far as foods and activities go?  Typically, what kind of daily grade to you earn?  Are you maintaining or looking to lose?  What are some of the goals you'd like to achieve thru this challenge?

Ok, so that's not a clean cut template for introductions, but give us some history.   I'll be looking forward to hearing from every one of you.  And if I don't hear from you, I'll find you...

So, I suppose as captain I should introduce myself first...

Hi!  I'm Nymo, your fearless leader.  I'm the one with the whip   ;)

I'm 29 years old, 5' 5" tall, and currently 133lbs.   I started in January at 172, which means I'm this far away from the 40lbs gone goal!  My goal weight is 127, so I'm very close to hitting the mark.

Currently, I am still on a weight loss routine.  My daily calorie goals are between 1300 and 1400 and a deficit around 500.  My daily menu tries to reach a 20/30/50 - fat/protein/carbs percentage.  Daily nutrition analysis grades are often A's and a few scattered B+'s.

My daily exercize routine includes mainly biking, running and situps.  I've backed off on the strength training for now so I can concentrate on reaching my final goal weight.   I try to bike/run/core train daily, altho Sundays are typically my 'off' day.  Saturdays are my hardcore day when I really up the running.  Currently, my BMI is 22.1 which is very safely in the "healthy" range.

During this challenge I hope to squeeze a lil closer to my goal weight all while picking up a few new friends, and feeding off some healthy competition.  I think I have a healthy routine that will only be strengthened by learning from others' experiences and by sharing some of my own.  I'm looking forward to learning a few pointers and helping others learn how to reach their own goals.
((Nymo, I just put my email address in my journal! ;) ))

Okay, all about me? Well let's see...

I currently am at 217 lbs(last time I checked), 5'5" and am 14 years old.

I usually log in my food (sometimes I forget but it's not that many times.) and the grades I usually get are around B's and A's. I exercise pretty much all around the week because I'm in track and field. Next year, I'm rejoining my swim team to become a lifeguard and I'm thinking of taking up rugby too. As of now, my goal weight is 150 lbs and I want to become more fit for the sports I play and to not be overweight.

I eat around 1,700-1,800 calories a day and I usually have the deficit around 700-800.

My goals for this challenge is to... well... challenge myself to my full potential! Yeah! ^.^

If there's anything else you all want to know about me, feel free to ask!
OK, I suppose this is the part where I tell you about myself.

I'm Christina, 22 (have been for a whole day, woohoo!), 5'2" and when I checked on Sunday, I was 156.5 lbs. I have access to a scale only on the weekends that I go home. My BMI is 28.5, and my healthy BMI is between 20 and 24. My calorie allowance is 1350 a day, which I had no problem staying right around when I was doin' this before, so I should be ok with it. I DO have a problem with the 50-30-20 though, I tend to take in too many carbs and not enough proteins.

I'm living in an apartment at college (my 4th year), and buy my own food and cook for myself. I've taken the summer off and just maintained for the last 4 months after a 44.5 lb weight loss. I've got about 23.5 more pounds to go, and then I'll see if I'm happy with myself or if I want to take it down past my 130 lb goal.

Since said break, I haven't been logging any food or anything, and will get back in that habit come Monday. I've never logged my activities, I find it too hard to keep track of EVERY little thing you do in the day that burns calories. I keep track of what I'm taking in, and that's good enough for me.

My activities ... swimming a mile 2-4 times a week (it takes an hour), sit-ups, arm exercises, and I'd like to incorporate some type of leg exercises as well, if anyone has any suggestions. I also take a 10-minute brisk walk anywhere from 2 to 6 times a day, 4 days a week (going to and from class). I'll keep track of what I do for timing purposes, but I'd still prefer not to log them if that's alright with everyone else.

I'd planned to start back on my diet and back on this site once school started, and looking at the site today, I was fortunate enough to find this challenge. I think it will help me not only stay focused on getting some more of this weight off and my BMI a bit lower, but I think I'll find a few friends n have fun with it as well.

OK guys ... I know I'm not on my diet yet, but I wanted you to know I plan to fully commit over the next 6 weeks.

This weekend, pre-dieting again, I will work on getting my water intake up to at LEAST 8 glasses a day. I will also start logging my food once again, no matter what the outcome. No cheating, even if it's not diet food yet! Lol, I just wanna be able to get back in the habit, whether I like the numbers or not. Starting tomorrow, that is. I'll enjoy the rest of today without the number-crunching. :)

That said, I've got homework to do, and prolly won't be around much today.  ReadnChick@aol.com is my e-mail addy if you need me, ReadnChick is my aim name, and feel free to add me as a friend on this site, I've added those of you who have posted in this thread already.
hey guys! my name is nicole and i'm 20! i'm 125 lbs and my goal is about 110-115.

i'm in a regular habit of logging cals (all 6 days so far) and i've gotten all A's so far. i like running but school and work has left me w/ less time. i need to get back in the swing of it everyday instead of like 2-3 times a week.

let's see.... more about me.... i'm a junior at the university of oklahoma with a major in zoology-biomedical science. i have an awesome boyfriend and a few of the best girlfriends anyone could ask for.

my goals are to drink more water, keep cals between 1200 and 1500 and do cardio 4 times a week w/ weight training 2-3 times a week.

my email is in my profile kne04@hotmail.com
Cool tinytot!  My cousin goes to school at OSU in Stillwater.  I think he's also a junior.  He's a big Xcountry runner there.  http://www.okstate.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID =1639&SPID=153&DB_OEM_ID=200&ATCL ID=292041  Maybe your paths have crossed.  LOL  Small world
Very cool indeed ... I'm a senior at SVSU in Michigan ... majoring in biology, with a chem minor ... eventually grad school for marine biology. Awesome choice on career paths. ;)
Hello teammates!  I'm Jenn, but you can call me Panda if you want, a lot of people do.  :)

Let's see...  Started my new lifestyle on 1/23/06, discovered CC on 2/1/06 and have been here since.  I have lost in the neighborhood of 50 pounds - was at 51 but have been sick this week and not logging and am up a bit I think.  I always log my weight on the 1st, no matter what, so we'll see what it says tomorrow.

I log my food 95% of the time.  I have a cheat day once a week, sometimes I log it and sometimes I don't, depending on how complicated the menu gets at whatever restaurant I end up at.  :)  I have no problem logging every day for the challenge though if need be.  My nutrition grade for the year to date is A-, with 53.7% carb, 23% protein, 22.2% fat, 1.1% alcohol, 2183 avg sodium and 24 avg fiber.  So, I usually struggle the most with needing to increase my protein.

I vary my calories a lot depending on if I am running that day or not.  If I don't run, I aim for around 1300 or so.  Saturdays are my long run day, and I'll usually burn over 1000 cals, so naturally I eat more on Saturdays.  :)  My goal is to be near an 800 calorie deficit on average.

I've got about 15 pounds left that I would like to lose, and my goal is to be there by Dec 1 if possible, Christmas at the latest.

For exercise I run 3-4 times a week and lift weights 1-2 times a week.

I guess what I would like to get out of the challenge is to get some consistency back into my routine.  I've been in a bit of an emotional funk lately and haven't been as true to my new lifestyle as I would like.  So I'd like to be back on track 100% with my eating habits, running no less than 4 times a week and always lifting twice every week.

I think that answers all of Nymo's questions.  :)  Glad to be on a team with you all, I think we will be the sneaky come-from-behind team that takes it all.  :)

**edited to add that other vitals about me are in my profile.  :)
hey jenn!! so glad to hear from you!

nymo, that is awesome that your brother runs cc at osu. i wanted to go there really bad but ou had more of what i needed for med school. i ran cc in high school so i though that i might have crossed paths w/ him... turns out i haven't. it is a very small world though!

readnchick, marine biology sounds awesome. i had an awesome prof that was a marine biologist and he had some really cool pictures to show us! hahaha. how far did you go in chem? i'm in ochem II now and we have an exam over all the stuff from ochem I tomorrow. i'm a little stressed about it! there are too many mechanisms to go back over and REmemorize! hahaha.

we ARE the team to beat! we'll show them! :P
Hey there....I'm Keri.  I have been pretty active on CC for 2 months.  I started at 216 pounds and I am down to 198.

Yes I ALWAYS log my food.  Obsessive about it actually.  My grade is typically an A but occasionally a B will get tossed in there.  I dont schedule cheat days but I may eat a cheat "meal" occasionally.  Mostly now that I have changed my diet I can't eat anything I used to anyhow.  I typically eat between 1400-1600 but there are plenty of days where I only hit 1200 mixed in.  I typically eat 20-30-50 or 30-20-50 on the lower protein days.

I am a busy mother of 3 that works full-time running an irrigation company (underground lawn sprinklers) and my husband works around 50 hours a week plus goes to college.

I have recently had a hard time doing "scheduled" exercise.  My exercise typically comes from carrying around a one year old, cooking dinner for the family, grocery shopping, chasing kids, doing laundry, etc.  School starts on Tuesday and I have a much better time scheduling exercise then.  During the school months I bike for 3 miles in the a.m. or go to the YMCA to do cardio and lift weights, sometimes I do Turbo Jam workouts, etc.  When our office schedule is running smoothly we take a 20 minute walk after lunch each day.

My goal weight is 144 which is very scary to me because I would have never imagined it possible for me to get back down to that weight.  With CC it has made that dream possible and given me the tools to do it.

Nice to meet everyone!
*curtsies and leaves*
