okay, first, september isn't over yet.  don't decide that the whole month is a write-off, because that just gives you permission to pack it in until october.

i don't know if this is what's going on for you, but unless you live in the tropics, the days are getting shorter and cooler.  i absolutely believe that this triggers the pack-it-on instinct in us.  our bodies have evolved to conserve energy for winter, and this often means we want to eat more (esp. carbs), stay in bed longer, and avoid exercise.  your body may not understand that resources are plentiful and you have central heating, but you certainly do.

i really struggle with this, especially since i moved north from where i was born and raised.  i've found that something as simple has a cup of hot water can make a huge difference; it warms me up after being outside, and it gives a sense of comfort that can overcome that need to feed.

don't be hard on yourself!  you can't expect to beat out hundreds of thousands of years of evolution, you know?

Just don't give up!  I started posting posts just like this last July and August and by the end of September I quit coming all together and ate what I wanted... I gained it all back (the 32lbs I had worked my butt off losing for 6mths).

So, keep on truckin and it WILL drop!  Good luck

sometimes getting mad is the start of a new beginning.   I got back on track two days ago.  Better to catch it after one month and not two month or more.

Turn around you went the wrong way

if you want to come over to the Going4gold gang.  We are gearing up for a Rock Star month of October.  Located under motivation.

I agree, September is only 3/4 over.

The fact that you realize that you need to restart your program shows that you are ready to do so.

I, too, got off track but it clicked in my head a couple days ago that I am ready again.

I joined on Jan 1,st weighed 160 (actually weighed 162 at Christmas time which scared me), got down to 147 by January. Had to drop out for six months due to ISP issues - today I weighed 153. I have been back a month and have fluctuated from 151 to 154.

But, hey, 153 is seven pounds down from January.

I have joined two group challenges on here today that motivated me.

Just pull up your bootstraps and forge ahead.

thanks guys...your posts were really helpful...esp the one about evolution that totally explains why  me as well as alot of my friends are feeling extra tired this month..I will not get disheartened!!! thanks for your support
my big issue has always bee nighttime eating...any tips on combating that?

Ahh...night time eating, also my biggest issue. I wish i had the cure for this! I would certainly be a multi-millionaire! i don't have all the answers, but considering I have struggled with this for many years, I have developed some strategies that can help.

1. Eat a substantial breakfast that contains a good source of protein and healthy fat along with fiber packed whole grains.

2. Plan your meals ahead of time, keeping in mind no more than 5 hrs between meals, starting with breakfast within 2 hrs of waking and ending at least 3 hrs before bed.

3. Split your calories up fairly evenly at meals so that you avoid the early in the day calorie restrictions that can lead to overindulging later. (remember: our self control is highest early in the day which is why we usually start out with good intensions that inevidably wane as the day clicks on...this is because our seratonin levels our higher later in the day which makes us want to "nest" and seek "comfort", usually from food.)

4. Verbally "tell" yourself, outloud if necessary, that the "kitchen is closed"...sounds funny, but sometimes we just need to be firm with ourselves...think angel vs devil...

5. Don't keep "trigger" foods and high calorie foods around that will easily tempt you. Keep a list of very low calorie foods available so that you are more likely to grab those vs the "jar of peanutbutter".

I have MANY other tips, but I just heard them paging me here at work! Woops! Gotta go!
