September 2009 prayers and praises!

Quote  |  Reply

Lord,  this day we Praise you Lord ! We praise you for who you are, our creator, our Savior, the King of Kings, the Lord of all.

Lord Jesus, you know everything about each one of us and desire to have each one of us close to you. Lord forgive us when we don't turn to you, but Lord thank you for hearing our prayers when we do.  Lord help us to keep trusting in you when the answers come in ways we don't understand.  Lord, we don't always understand your ways, so help us to see things the way you see them.

Thank you Lord Jesus for leaving us your Word so that we can fully understand who you are and know how very much you love us and have made provisions for us and want to use us.  Lord, thank for making a way to use us in our imperfection. Lord, thank you for being the perfect sacrifice and buying us back through your shed blood.  Lord, help us today to not be ashamed of your Gospel, but to have your boldness to share your love and forgiveness with another so that they too can know you and have eternal life with you.

Lord, thank you for all the work that has been done through the years as a labor of love to share your word with others.  Lord on this labor day, let us remember that the fields are full and ready to harvest, but the laborers are few, and that you are calling us to work in your fields.  And the fields are many, but you have planted each one of us in a field with plenty of work to be done.  Lord, let us not be ashamed of your gospel,  For it is the POWER of God unto salvation--to every one that believeth."--Rom. 1:16.

Lord thank you for satisfying our souls with the richest of foods as we sing our praises to you !

My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you! (psalm 63:5)

Rom. 8:28 As we know that ALL things work together for the GOOD to those who love Christ and are called according to His purpose.

His purpose is for us to be obedient and to Love Him, Our brothers and sisters and ourselves. We can get good results if we work together to become or stay healthy.

Thank you for the wonderful prayer! It started my day.

If anyone sees this tonight, please pray that my family doesn't have too rough a night.  We live in Phoenix, AZ, and our air conditioning is out.  The house is 90 degrees, and outside, we're expecting an overnight low of 79.  None of us here sleep well when it's above about 75.

Thanks,

Kevin

How did you fare Kevin?   I heard AZ gets breezy at night.  Or maybe you found some fans?

We've got some fans.  Managed to sleep.  Repair guy shows up sometime before noon.

Thanks.  Smile

Urgent Prayer Request:

Please pray for Breanna, my four year old.  She just woke up with a temperature of 104.0.  She was completely fine an hour and a half ago.  Please pray that this is not the H1N1 that everyone is on alert for.  One of the symptoms of H1N1 is a sudden temp of 100.4 or higher.  So far, she is not complaining of a sore throat or even feeling sicky.  She does have a lose of appetite.  She did not eat much at dinner.

Also Pray for Glynn.  Even though he is fine now, he was born with his heart and lungs under developed.  We have to watch that he does not spike high temperatures.  When he gets a temp that is too high, he is at risk for having the infection to travel the bloodstream and damage his heart.

This is one frightened mother.  Both of my children are in the at risk group for the H1N1.

Update:

Breanna's temp at 1:00am = 99.2

Thank You Jesus.

This is an update about mamarose (Sandy) who once was a moderator for our group.  She had to drop out because of Pancreatic cancer:

Friday, September 11, 2009 7:12 PM, CDT

This is an update, but I'm not Sandy.  I'm her husband, Kevin.  Relax, she's doing OK.  There have been many inquiries and she just hasn't felt like blogging, so I was given permission to substitute for her.  I hope she returns to the blog soon.  She's more entertaining.
Sandy has been through quite a bit since her last log-in.  She has had an intra-thecal pump implanted.  It is the size of a hockey puck and was placed under the skin on the left front side of her stomach.  It has a catheter that provides a constant slow feed of low dose morphine directly to her spinal fluid.  The selling point was that she would receive about 0.5% of the pain killer she was taking orally and it would minimize the severe nausea and drowsiness of the oral dose.  It also allows her to use a remote control to give herself a "bolus" or booster dose when she feels she needs more.  It took many return visits to get the dosage properly adjusted, and it hasn't had all the benefits that were promoted, but she feels much better off now.  She is now scheduled to go back to the Pain Clinic in 3 months.  That's a nice break.
Now for some better news.  As many of you know, yesterday was her 29th birthday (again).  She received some beautiful flowers from her co-workers along with some gourmet brownies (thank you very much).  Her sister Linda came for a visit and brought gifts.  Katie and Matt gave her an electric blanket.  Over the weekend, I visited 6 furniture stores and finally bought her a La-Z-Boy rocker/swivel/glider/recliner.  I was concerned about picking out a chair by myself that would fit and appeal to her.  I was relieved when she sat in for 2-1/2 hours before getting up and then directly returned to it for more napping.  I think I got the right chair.
Better yet, two nights ago Mary and Jeff made a huge (over 6') birthday card and decorated it with photos of family holding birthday greeting signs, jokes, gift paper, and drawings.  They sneaked it onto the front porch and got away without the dogs sounding the intruder alert.  I called Jeff's cell phone as they turned out of the driveway and they came back for a good visit.  I've docked the dogs a day's pay.  No crunchy tasty biscuits for them!
We've been receiving great help and support from our church family.  After a couple of months absence, Sandy made it back for service last Sunday.  I felt like I was with a rock star.  I almost said, "I'm with the band."  She sure is popular.
She had 2 medical appointments today.  We go back on Monday for another chemotherapy treatment.  If Sandy doesn't feel up to posting again, I'll be back.  I don't want her friends & family to feel neglected.

A new journal entry for Sandy's CaringBridge website was posted at 7:12:00 PM on Sep 11, 2009.

Thank You Jesus.

Breanna played all day today without any trouble or temperature.

Then, without rhyme or reason, her temp went up to 102.3 at 6:30pm.

Please continue to pray for Sandy Houppert (mamarose) and her family.  Sandy was a moderator for this group last year.

There was a new posting in her Caring Bridge journal by her husband, Kevin.  He wrote that he had asked their pastor to talk with their children about the bad news from the doctor.

The doctor's report is that the tumors have become immune to the chemotherapy.  There isn't much more that they can do.

Kevin has an appointment with Hospice Care this week to arrange for continued health care at the home.

thanks Denna for posting the update.  I didn't know Sandy but have read her journal and kept her in prayer for 8 mos or so since coming to this group.  Her delightful humor keeps you reading and wanting to read more.  Lord Jesus, will you be with our sister Sandy, her husband Kevin and her children and extended family and friends.  Lord we just don't understand but Lord your love shines through pages of your tender care and mercies in the people you have surrounded her with. Oh Lord, will you ease her pain, will you give her family and friends your peace and comfort. Lord will you allow us to see through your eyes the purposes that you have so carefully orchestrated, Lord we may never see this side of heaven all the people who were affected by her laugh, her smile, all knowing that her joy was found in you.

Lorraine ... thank you for your prayer  for Sandy ... I copied and posted it on Sandy's Blog this morning.  As you stated her humor has been greatly missed here for those who knew her:

Dear Kevin and Sandy ... For those of us at Calorie Count - "I Can Do All Things in Christ" group where Sandy moderated until she began her therapy - we offer the following prayer which Lorraine posted in our group:

"Lord Jesus, will you be with our sister Sandy, her husband Kevin and her children and extended family and friends.  Lord we just don't understand but Lord your love shines through pages of your tender care and mercies in the people you have surrounded her with. Oh Lord, will you ease her pain, will you give her family and friends your peace and comfort. Lord will you allow us to see through your eyes the purposes that you have so carefully orchestrated, Lord we may never see this side of heaven all the people who were affected by her laugh, her smile, all knowing that her joy was found in you."

Our thoughts are with you.

I have awakened here at 3:30am and that's usually the Holy Spirit waking me to pray. I opened my bible this morning to a most wonderful verse in Proverbs -

"I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently will find me.  Riches and honor are with me, enduring riches and righteosness.  My fruit is better than fine gold, and my revenue than choice silver, I walk about on the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of justice, that I may cause those who love me to inherit wealth, that I may fill their treasuries." (Prov 8:17-21)NKJ

The Lord has been allowing me to do something that I love to do at work. I love taking pictures and have become our company photographer. I know a lot of people could do a much better job, but am thankful for the opportunity to learn and develop this... well tomorrow I am doing a photo shoot with a scholarship student and the pictures will be used for a brochure and I keep being so nervous that they won't be the quality they are looking for. I've never taken any classes on photography and am really just winging it, and there is one guy at work that will be putting together the brochure and I've heard him criticize many people and I guess I am fearing him being critical of me and I hate that.  So, Lord I ask you to take control of tomorrow and Lord will you work through me to capture what you would have me capture. Lord, will you give me your peace that it doesn't matter what Scott thinks of me and that what you think of me is all that really matters. Lord the wealth that you have given me is not worldly riches but is your peace and your love and your forgiveness. Lord, I do ask you to change Scott, to draw him close to you and show him your love. In Jesus name I pray - Amen.
