Welcome to the **September** Challenge!
If you’ve participated before, welcome back for another month! To all those who have not done this challenge (or any other) welcome aboard newcomers!
The challenge is pretty easy & does NOT require a long-term commitment. You pick a goal weight, and post your progress each week. You are NOT in competition with the other challengers—in fact, you are encouraged to cheer each other on. This is about having a reason to stay motivated throughout the month’s weight loss journey and having a place to post your progress to help you stay on track--some "extra" accountability for your actions because you know you aren't the only one who will "see" the results.
We'll have 4 weekly weigh-ins in September plus the start date and the final. Our weekly weigh-in dates are September 4, 11, 18, 25 and 30, 2009 for final weigh in.
Weigh-in days are still on a Friday...following Navane's organization. If you want to change the day, please let me know. If you weigh a different day for some specific reason, do so, but please report it on Friday for statistical purposes of this thread. Thanks.
Normally results will be posted by Monday, which will appear as a link at the bottom of this page.

Hi, I would like to join this challenge. I've been a CC member for a pretty long time, but I keep on getting on and off the wagon. I'm back on the wagon as of last Thursday, the 20th. At 225.7, I'm the heaviest I've ever been in my life, so I really need to put my mind to it this time. My ultimate goal weight is 135 - I'm really freaking out because I'm nearing 100 lbs to lose; maybe that will help me stick with it this time though.
I'm going on a cruise in 6 months, so that's my major incentive right now. I think breaking it down into monthly challenges will help.

I've been at a plateau for about 6 weeks now, and am ready to break it. I just started classes this week, and am taking a physical fitness class, so maybe this will be the change in routine that I need to continue losing.

darned plateaus! I think I've hit my first one. Who knows how long it will last? I'm thinking of upping cals to 1800-1900 (near maintence), starting tomorrow to rev up my metabolism and see where it takes me :)

To lose 1lb, one needs to eat 3500 calories less, theoretically and
mathematically but other factors are involved. Check out the references
in original post, especially Calorie Math.

Total monthly weight loss: I am definitely up for the new challenge. I will make a reminder to weigh in on the 1st and promise myself to stay on track this time around. I make a promise also to myself to at the very least - maintain throughout the month. Ribbon gave me a list of "Traveling Tips" to use to stay in focus while we are gone. It is sooooo easy to just forget my goals when visiting and enjoying our friends - and in Sept. is another trip - and a family reunion - Yikes!
