Serious Lack of Motivation...HELP!!!!

Quote  |  Reply

Oh my goodness...I don't know what's happening to me! I hit a serious wall and haven't worked out in like 2 weeks! It started with getting sick, and then waiting to get my bench which I'm still waiting on. It was making stage 3 really hard without the bench, and I don't have a gym membership. Anyway, I told myself that this week I was going to be back in full swing, and here it is Friday night and I went the whole week without doing the workouts. I ran a couple days, and did a few pushups...but that's about it. I have been really watching what I eat but I NEED HELP!!! I just don't know what happened! I don't want to quit now and I just need some motivation.

You guys are all so great and I always appriciate everyones support! Thanks for letting me vent about this! It always makes me feel better! Laughing

Just do it.

Yeah - just make yourself do it.  You will feel so much better once you start!

MsMeg - I want to make sure I follow up to that last comment I made. I wanted to elaborate THEN, but I hoped what I said would get you to react within yourself. I hope it did, because that was my objective.... to motivate you. Maybe even to make you a little angry.

Some of the best results I've seen with myself, are when I get mad. I mean... MAD.... at myself.

I hope I didn't turn you off to CC, this group or any other thing! Stay with it, yogagirl is right.... you will be feeling so much better. Success breeds success. Once you take the first step.... the next ones come easier. You know how to do this, just go... and DO IT. Tongue out

Happy Healthgain,
~Julie

I am starting stage 3 today so you have to get back into it so we can bitch about it together!!!!

Where are you at now puppkisses? Please let me know how much you hate it 'cause this is the worst one for me and I'm not sure why! I think it's because of how long they are and I find it really difficult to get that much time in my life these days! I'm doing a little better now, but still struggling to get these in. I'm trying to do at least 2 days a week but I think I'm on the 3 workout A. Only a few more in this stage!!! If you're working out 3 times a week, you'll probably pass me up here pretty quick!

Good job hanging in there ckfy.  I am feeling the same way toward Stage 7.  15 to 20 reps just wiped me out.  I needed to take a day off today because I felt so crummy.  With only 2 workouts left I am tempted to just quit and say I am done.  But hopefully I will feel better tomorrow and I can finish.

Hang in there, ckfyamaha.  Stage 4 is way better than stage 3!

That's good to know! Thanks girls!

It's OK Yamaha, we all have our slumps but we just have to make sure we pull our selves out of them and it sounds like you're coming out of it. Some times we just need a little "me time" where we aren't harping about a workout/deadline/kids/spouse etc.

Thanks girls...and NANNY...I totally understood what you were saying! I just happened to get really busy and not reply for awhile but I appriciate your comment! I know exactly what you mean 'cause that's what I always tell myself JUST DO IT and you'll feel better! There's no other way around it. I realized lately I get really depressed when I don't work out, and then it becomes a cycle I have a hard time breaking out of!!

I'm having some motivation issues right now too.

I finished my last workout in Stage 2 last week, and did cardio 3 times (20 min HIIT, 20 min walk, 20 min run) then went to Montreal Friday-Monday, ate bad, drank lots and got minimal sleep.

Today I want to start Stage 3 but have no motivation to do so. I have a few conference calls this afternoon, so probably wont have time then, then getting my hair cut and dyed and will be home around 630 or so- I guess I could do it after that.....

UGH.

How do you get yourself back into it after a week break?

I know what you mean.  The worst time for me was after the holidays.  I hadn't worked out in about 2 weeks and I had been very inconsistent the whole month of Dec.  When I finally decided to start again, I put on my workout clothes and wondered around the house using every possible excuse to procrastinate.  Hours later, I finally worked out.  It felt good.  I was able to keep going and get back into it.  Sometimes the hardest part is getting started.  JUST DO IT!!!   :)

The hardest part IS getting started for me!!

March was a pretty inconsistent month for me too and now April seems to be the same cuz of Easter and Montreal trip.

I need to start Stage 3 and be consistent about it.

I will start today or tomorrow. Thats my goal. I have to get my eating habits back on track today too!!!!

Chels:  I think it works better for me if I have a set time to do my workouts for the week.  Mine are Tues, and Thurs as soon as I get home from work (5-5:30pn) and Sunday afternoon (2pm or so).  If I have to postpone one I try to make it up (say I miss Thurs, so I do it on Friday) or if I miss one then so be it.  My rule is that I have to do at least 2 per week. If not --- I'm disappointed in myself.

I just thought of something... maybe I should punish myself when I don't get in 2 per week.  Myabe I have to put $5 in a piggy bank.  Then I could set some goal, like attaining a body-weight deadlift and it could be my reward.

That said, I'm currently taking an unwanted week off, because even though I can deadlift 115 lbs, and bench press 45, etc.  I apparently can't nap on the couch for an hour on Saturday afternoon without throwing out my back.

I haven't gotten the eating thing down though.  I keep getting off track, and I think NROL4W Stage 7 is/was killing me because the metabolic workouts in there turn me into a ravenous eating machine.

Regarding the eating thing - I am terrible too.  I can be great for a few days, then really bad, then excellent again.  But I am finding that be keeping the workouts consistent, and eating well whenever I can, I am making slow but steady progress.  In other words, even though I mess up on nutrition quite a bit, I am still progressing.  I would make better progress if I ate well consistently, but slow progress is better than none.  So don't get discouraged.  Eat well when you can, continue working out, and when you mess up, dust yourself off, and start again.

OK - I'll get off my soap box now.

Ya- the set time thing I totally did in Stage 1. I worked out three times a week throughout the whole program, almost always on the same day. M-W-F.

Then the break killed my momentum. I got started with Stage 2 and got derailed a few times, only did 1 workout a week sometimes (but kept up with at least 3 days of cardio ie/jogging/walk/run/HIIT) so I felt okay

now I am here. In between stages and unmotivated.

I have been thinking that since I can't get the eating thing down either, that I should try and focus more on that, and have been taking a bit of a break to run a few times and try to lose some lbs.

I do admit my body looks better now after Stage 1&2, but I want to lose just a few lbs and its not really happening.

Tell me if this is this will work, I dont know so I need advice (or to be told I am crazy lol) : I'm thinking if I run 5-6 times from today- May 2nd, for about 20-30 mins, and focus on getting calories a healthy way, but in a deficit of at least 500 cals, do you think I could get a few lbs off of me?

Then if I picked up stage 3 (motivated cuz ive been running) and did that three times a week (2 at min.) that I wouldnt just gain those back as soon as I started weight training vs running?

I'm with you on the eating thing. I've been having some problems lately. Like catching myself devouring n-th handful of nuts or raisins/craisins without remembering having the first n-1... And then thinking "screw it!", and grabbing the n+1st. :(

Hi Laura-

I think I am in the same boat. I mess up on the eating thing, and am inconsistent. Great, terrible, good, bad, great would be a normal work week for me.

I guess your right about the slow progess is better than none. I do think I look a bit better since starting the program, some clothes fit better....

UGH its just this in between stage thing that messes with my head. Its all mental for me.....

Chels, how about a "todo" list? Don't go to bed until you cross out every single item on the list (and don't cross out things you haven't actually doneTongue out). Just do it! And you will no longer be between stages.

Chels, weren't you just commenting last week about the shirt that was too small, but now fits fine?  I'm just saying... try putting the scale in the attic (or some other far away place) for a month or so and use your tape measure instead.

Don't worry about those few pounds.  Cripes, I'm 2.5 lbs down from yesterday morning.  It was just water weight, from the weekend.
