Seriously - calories required to maintain question
Okay, I'm trying to maintain my weight at 129# (or 130, whatever) and I think the calories that is suggested seems quite high to me.
5'8" female, 26yrs. 45 mins cardio 5x's weekly, 90 mins yoga 5x's weekly, 45 mins strength 3x's weekly. Active in work and in leisure.
I hear from 2000 - 2250 but it does seem high when I see others at 1200 - 1800 (that's for loss largely, I know but still . . .)
Any clues? :-)
I guess you both are right - thank you for the advice!!
I actually lost 50#'s over 18 months and decided to make fitness my career, I am a fitness instructor (newb) and I have 8 sessions per week - which equals at least 16 hours (practice and then real class).
Since I have just found my comfortable maintenance weight, after being too light and too heavy, I was not quite sure what to eat to maintain. I'll give this a whirl for a month. I'm vegan too, so I eat CONSTANTLY!
Thanks again!

Honestly for maintenance of such an active person that seems low to me. Do eat as much as they suggest. If you find yourself losing or gaining over a month then adjust accordingly.
You take you weight @ 130# = 1300, then 10% of that which is 130, add to two together - 1430 for a SEDENTARY profile - to MAINTAIN.
Then you calculate your EXERCISE EACH DAY - to maintain, EAT THE SAME AMOUNT OF CALORIES YOU BURNED ON THE DAY YOU BURNED THEM.
If you miss an exercise, and are particularly 'quiet' that day, drop to around 1430 to 1500 - then you won't risk a gain. I've done this all my life; 65 years of 'living', and this is my formulae. Diane
