Seriously, how the **** did you manage that?

Picture, if you will, a storybook morning.  The sun is rising, turning the clouds pink and gold, birds are chirping, a gentle breeze rustles the leaves of the trees...

and you are awakened at 6am by your dad, telling you to come pull his truck out of a mud pit.

And you get there and it's not actually a mud pit, but a just a big mud puddle. And he's not driving an Escort or anything like that, but a Tahoe.

Really, Dad?  Yell

So if you have any epic screwups you'd like to share, be my guest!

No epic screwups...but that is funneh.

All except for the part where you had to get up at 6 AM :)

Some friends were coming to visit my brother at our house in the boonies. It was snowing, and they'd never been there before, so my brother went outside to wave them down. They missed the driveway and drove the sedan into a ditch.

My dad, thinking he's all tough and manly, gets his GM pickup, to haul them out. Ends up stuck in the ditch

We had to call our friend (who actually knows what he's doing) to tow both vehicles out.

On the other hand you wouldn't have known  the, ' storybook morning.  The sun ... rising, turning the clouds pink and gold, birds ... chirping, a gentle breeze rustling the leaves of the trees...'  if your father had not awakened you in the first place.

Excellent point. :)

I once got stuck in a flat parking lot.  It was post ice storm and I had apparently parked on glare ice.

So I called my dad's cell phone and pulled him out of a meeting.  He said he would come get me.

But then a guy who parked across from me also got stuck and he pulled out a shovel and stuff from his trunk and helped me get moving.

So I had to call my dad and tell him "never mind."

But I felt like an idiot stranding myself in a parking lot.

Loads of stories, but now I just sum it up succinctly with this mug.

Quite true!  I'm a morning person anyway, I just thought the enormous-truck-stuck-in-a-puddle situation was laughable. :)

So, are you tech support at work, or just for your family? Wink

I was new to driving.  The parking lot was comprised of several spaces, I took one at the end, which had a cement bumper in the front as well as on the side.  I pulled in crooked, reversed so I could correct it (I was new to driving, so it took some work to figure out which way to turn the wheel).  Through some clever maneuvering, I somehow managed to high center my car on the cement bumper on the side.

I was at college, 3 hours away from Dad.  I had to call the campus police.  He laughed at me, then pushed the car off the bumper.

I avoided parking on the ends from then on.

Yay, an opportunity to post demotivational posters!

I know I'll eventually find someone that merits this one, too.

I was driving home from college for a break of some sorts.  I decided to start my 6 hour drive with a full tank of gas and stopped at a station a bit before the highway.

Filled up, paid, and looked in dismay at my keys on the seat and the locked doors.  So I decided to call AAA.  Saw my cell and wallet on the other seat... I went inside to call AAA, but no, I needed my membership number, which was also locked in my car.  So I called a local locksmith and waited 45 minutes for him to get there...things take time at 6am in rural PA.

Hanging out in gas stations...FUN

Family and friends.

edit: actually that's not true... to many people know that I can fix most things hardware and software related. But I try not to do it, because a) I don't want to do it and b) I don't want to step on IT's toes.
