Severe scheduling problems?

Quote  |  Reply

I'm a full time student and moderatley fit. I don't take gym this year because it isn't offered at school but I walk around almost all day at school and go up and down the stairs a lot.

However, I need to exercise more. This summer I tried the p90X for a month and I began to feel really good but once school started, things sort of went downhill.

I no longer have time to workout and I mean, NO TIME AT ALL. I leave the house at 6:30 a.m. and get back at 6:30 p.m. Then I have dinner, and homework until 10-11 p.m. (trust me, I'm in gifted... no time during then to do work). Weekends usually consist of me doing work... again. I volunteer friday nights and saturday nights.

How do I get exercise time in?! Help!

Fortunately, CC has a magic time extender that can solve your problem.

Oops. They got rid of that in the switch to CC+. Sorry!

I'm being silly, but I don't know what you want people to tell you. If all of your waking hours are booked, then you either can't work out or you have to un-book some of them. If this is important to you, you'll have to evaluate your priorities and move things around. I keep gym clothes and shower items in the gym at school so I can sneak in a workout between classes or at lunch. Would that work for you?

Get a Netflix subscription and order tons of exercise videos. I just got a "bellydancing for abs" DVD in the mail, it was kinda fun, definitely worked my abs. Do them when you get home from school or on weekends.

Do you drive to school? consider biking if distance isnt too long.

Look for a cheap treadmill on craigslist, walk on it while you read papers for school.

Make sure to have some time for yourself next semester!

home based workouts (yoga/step/etc videos) would work, there would be no travel time in trying to get to a gym, you could fit them in any time.

if your school has a gym, could u stay at the end of your day and extra half hour, 45 minutes and get home a bit later? (bring a snack to eat before u work out so that you aren't starving for dinner?)

maybe re-priortize some things and find time? give something up? you may wind up burning yourself out because your schedule lacks relaxation/rest time.

thanks for the replies, guys :)

I'm guessing that home based workouts are the best option for me right now. The gym at school is available but never when I have time so I guess that's out of the question.

I know what you mean about reprioritizing. I mean, education for me is the number one thing in life and I don't think I could ever sacrifice that but I'm going to try and see if I can work out before leaving for school in the morning.

Anyways, thanks for your help!
