I've been working out, doing cardio and weights about 4 times a week. I have lost a total of 12 pounds thus far. But I find that my legs are so straight and dont have that sexy curvature. I heard that most women have nice calves b/c of years and years of wears high heels. But I dont have that behind me. I want to get like dancers legs. Any suggestions of what I can do? I was thinking the stair master? But what exactly does the stair master workout? Is there anything else I could do?
Normally at the gym I do the eliptical and/or the treadmill as my cardio workout.
Well the best workout to get great calves in the quickest time would be to go to any place with bleachers, and sprint up them, and slow it down coming down from them. This kind of shock treatment is excellent at forming great calves. Make sure you stay on the balls of your feet going up and coming down to ensure isolation of the calf muscle.
Doing this maybe three times a week will get you great results fast, and after a while, you can start wearing a backpack w/ added weight in it to add resistance.
JUMP ROPE!! I have been doing a 30 minute jump rope/situp/lunge routine for the past 3 weeks, and let me tell you, my legs are starting to look phenominal again. Jump rope in my opinion is one of the best exercieses out there.
At first you may mess up alot, but if you stick with it and keep doing it, in the end you will be jumping like a pro and have awesome results. I guarantee it
Jumping rope kicks my @ss, I'm in awe over your 30 minutes!
Thanks guys! The bleachers do sound like a good idea. I will see if i can find any schools around my house that i can go to! I dont have a platform which i can use. I do have a step, but its not as high as 15".
As for jumping rope, I definately can't do 30 minutes!! But I will try!!
A question though - What does the stair stepper work then? Your butt and thighs?
Take a step aerobics class. You'll get nice muscular legs. Also- bicycling or going to the cycling class at the gym will give you great legs and calves.

lifitng weights working the legs with high reps...I see a huge difference in only a week or two. Particularly the working the soleus (back of calves) really makes a shapely difference, for me at least.
You'll get even better results lifting heavier weights for less reps. Either way you're doing the exact same thing: building muscle. High reps does it much slower, though.
Lunges!!!!!! I used to hate them but if you do them with proper form they are great for your legs. Pair that with a standing calf press... alternating foot position and pleanty of leg strenghting cardio, like runnung uphill and elliptical on high settings... not only will you work your legs, your butt gets a good work out too!

Sounds challenging, can you share your routine in more detail? How many minutes/reps of each do you do and how many times a week? I would love to add this to my weekly workout routine.
Thanks!
Take Care :+)
How can I slim down my thighs?
If you have extra fat to lose, your thighs should become slimmer as you lose weight. If you weight-train for exercise, avoid bulking... Read more
