Shakes or regular food

just curious on what everyone thinks.  Should my meal be a protine shake or regular solid food.  What does the body process better?

Are you talking about all meals, or just replacing one? Do you get enough protein in your regular diet, or are you lacking. I replace breakfast with a prtein shake, made with lots of fruit and soy milk, but thats because it is the only way I can get enough protein and lose weight without having a very controled diet (i'm veg).

But, if your protein is fine, stick with real food.
I mean for breakfast. This is what I make. 8oz of 1% milk 1cup blueberries 1 cup strawberries 1 bannana 1 tblsp peanutbutter 1 scoop of protine powder and crushed ice. Fills me up. I just wanted to know how the body handles this in comparison say to eggwhites and turkey.
Just curious, how many calories are in that shake? sounds like a lot.
It sounds like a good breakfast to me, as long as you don't find yourself really hungry again in an hour or so.  Egg whites and turkey are almost pure protein, which takes longer to digest, so they tend to make people feel full longer than fruit.  But if the smoothie works for you, stick with it.

I drink whey, but only after exercising or if I need to get extra calories in but am not hungry enough to eat them.

For me, I would go with solid foods for breakfast. Drinking a smoothie, to me, is just like a drink, and I wonder, where is the food?
Also, I feel that eating foods with different textures rather than a liquid, stimulates my brain and makes me feel like I actually ate.
But, whatever floats your boat.
