Here's mine, it was the early 80's and I was in elementary school. The Thriller concert came to Washington, D.C., my best friend at the time, Holly and her mother invited me to go with them, I was sooo excited. My parents were very strict and we were new to the country, so I was not allowed to go anywhere. So Holly and her mother came to my house to speak to my mother about letting me go with them, and my mother said NO and shut the door. I was devasted... at my birthday soon after, Holly presented me with a BIG box, so I opened it, and there was another box, then another one, by the time I got to a small box I opened it up and it was a raggedy doll with one leg and one arm. I said 'thank you' and Holly laughed and said look under the Doll, I looked under and it was The Thriller Album in all it's glory!!! The best present I ever got in my life.... I will never forget.... ![]()
I love you Holly B wherever you are!!!!
Well lets see...I have never met him in person but I do not live to far from where he was born. I really liked his music alot. Michael Jackson as a person I am not so sure I can say I really liked him, I can not say I hated him either..I found that the parents he paid off to keep their mouth shut was just a way saying Look I did it I was wrong here take this except my appolgy. Only few know if what he was accused of is true or not his victims and God and himself.
When I was 12, I was invited to a sleep-over at the Neverland Ranch.....

I am to serious as Watergirl is to subtle.
My daughter turned three years old this April. She was dancing in a strange way on Saturday. She dances and twirls all the time like a princess.... but this was different. She kept running off through the house dancing strangely... Then coming back to dance some more .... Sorta hopping around... And pouncing like: Jungle cat style.
Anyhow: I sneak into her room to observe. I was just watching her from the door way.
She was dancing and singing " I'm bad ... I'm bad.. You know it. Trouble trouble.... Who's bad.. I'm BAD! you KNOW IT "
It was the cutest thing I ever saw in my entire life. She was pulling out her Michael Jackson moves. She liked that song when it played on television. I guess that's one of her favorite too,Lol. On Friday I had left the tv on the channel playing all the MJ music videos. We don't normally have the tv on during the day. It was just a rare thing that brought me so much enjoyment with her reaction later. :)
Enchantingimage - that is soooo cute, your daughter is a doll baby!!!
awwww yeah you will probably always remember that ei.
i wonder if we will always remember what we were doing when we heard, you know, like a 9/11, kennedy, etc. caliber time-date stamp.
I think the first time I saw Michael Jackson and thought he was the greatest was when I was watching this Alvin and the Chipmuncks video, no idea how old I was. It was the music video " Just Beat It" and Alvin and the gang were singing in the video and dancing with Michael. I remember seeing that red jacket and thinking I want one just like it! I remember my sister, brother, and I would replay that video over and over just to watch Michael dance. :)
Awww. It's all so sad.
He was my first crush!

I am so glad you put this thread up shapeshifter!
He was my first crush too.....I had the cassette with him on it with a baby white tiger. I cut the photo out and had it in my purse. I wrote him a love letter...the first one I have ever written...and my mom found it and read it out loud in front of my friend. I was soooo mad! I liked the video where he is trying to get a girl's attention and keeps following her around the city..Ahhhhh...how I wished I were her!!
"you really turn me oooooooon"
It is too bad he was such a tortured soul. I grew up in the religion he did...and I feel it is ONE of the many reasons he was messed up in the head.
I remember the time Michael Jackson died and the next day Good Morning America had 5 reporters all report the exact same thing one after another, while the carbon trading bill that the house was about to vote on and could actually have an affect on people's lives wasn't mentioned.
when Will You Be There, the theme song for the free willy movie came out on a single, i bought the cassette. my friend and i were OBSESSED with that song.
i remember my parents took us to an amusment park about two hours away, and they let us listen to that tape the entire time. on side one, was the song which we sang along to. on side two, it was the instrumental version, which we provided the words for on our own.
*haz a sad*
RIP MJ
I remember having a big poster of him in a yellow cardigan sweater with a yellow bow tie. He was the cutest thing I'd ever seen and I too had the biggest crush on him. I just remember I had the thriller album and I was so happy that it had words and I would just sit and play it and sing the songs over and over. I'm doing that now for the past week since his passing. I feel like I'm in the 80's again but now only I'm sad because he's no longer here. I'm even more sad that I never got to see him in concert. Stupid me. I should have gone to a concert.

During his 'Off The Wall' days and 'Thriller' days he was sooo adorable, I agree with what Team_Malone said, he was a tortured soul, sad what fame can do to people....
And what bugs me more, is when I saw his father Joe Jackson, telling people at a press conference that he was starting up his own RECORD LABEL!!!! HE was walking around like he was the 'perverted dirty old uncle at the bbq'!!! regardless, Michael's soul is free now...
