I want you all to brag here on this thread!! Pat yourselves on the back, since in more ways than one, you, and we all deserve it!
Here's one of mine:
Just yesterday, as I was nearing my gym time, my former trainer came up to me and began talking with me. I have not used him since the end of January mind you, so it had been a while since I've really engaged in conversation with him. He made a comment on my intense running session, as apparently, it went noticed. He asked me if I'd ever heard of a supplement called "Venom". I hadn't. He said that he had seen a client take this stuff and that client has melted off 16 lbs, and they "have nowhere near the fitness level you have", he said. I just said something about weight coming off more readily the more you have to lose. But his comment had me on cloud 9 alllll day long. "nowhere near the fitness level you are at". That made me feel like a million bucks. Like I could have ran my 3rd 1/2 marathon right then and there from of that comment. : - )
Let's hear yours! Brag away! You worked hard for it!

One of the drs I bill for asked me if I was losing weight - I said no - he said well you look great. His wife then told him I was doing weight training class. I haven't lost any weight but I guess firming up is just as noticable. I think the fact that a male noticed made it an even better compliment after all men never seem to notice or let alone compliment someone LOL
I have one from high school.
My sister and I spent the summer before our Junior year, running 4-5 times a week and lifting weights 3-4 times a week. I am 5'7" and weighed 128. I had never been in better shape. When school started, our volleyball coach told us that we had to go to the track and run for 30 minutes straight. I didn't think it was a big deal because I had been running 3-4 miles all summer. Everyone else moaned and complained. It was actually a way for the coach to weed out all the "slackers". So we went down to the track and right away some of the others (including the coach's niece) started almost sprinting down the track. My sister and I, being the experienced runners that we were, started off at our normal pace. After 1 lap, my sister and I passed all the leaders and lengthened our lead to over 1/2 a lap. Then, our coach told us to stop - we had run about 1 mile ~10 minutes. I couldn't figure out why she told us to stop. Oh, but of course. She thought her niece would be in the lead and make the rest of us look bad. I came to this conclusion after a season of her coaching. Talk about playing favorites; she was horrible! It makes me feel good that my sister and I would have lapped the coach's niece, so she put a stop to our running!!! Haha!! What a b!tch!

I have another one!!
That same week, the most popular guy in school asked me if I was on steroids (we lifted a lot of weights). Sigh. If he had only asked me on a date ;)

I do! I do! Perfect timing because I'm on cloud 9!
We're having a health fair in the lobby at work today: cholesterol, blood pressure, resting heart rate, bmi, body fat % screenings.
I got great results on all of them. But what really made me happy was when the nurse gave me my blood pressure results and asked, "are you an athlete?" because my resting heart rate was 53 - in the range of endurance athletes. Wow! I've got the heart rate of an athlete!
She said my blood pressure results were among the best she'd recorded at the fair.
My HDL was super high, too! Go me!
:-D

***Yay!!*** Happy dance, happy dance!!
Loving your stories!!! They make me smile :-)
The sad part is, I bet all those tests ran at the fair won't even gage the WORST of the worst, since those folks tend to shy away from that stuff. As in "what I don't know, won't hurt me".

In gym, I'm the only girl who actually tries, and the only one who was already fit from summer because of martial arts. Today we played softball, and while I'm not the best hitter at all (I can barely hit XP), I can sprint fairly well. When I stepped up to bat, a player on the other team said, "Back up guys! Speedy's up!" I was just really proud, as stupid as that sounds. ^^;;
Also, we did fitness testing in karate over the summer, and I worked hard day and night for 3 months practicing, and was able to do 50 pushups (good ones, too!), 100 crunches in under 2.5 minutes, and 6 minutes of jump ropes (it's harder then you think! XP) and I was just really proud. Heh, I know it's not much, but it was still important to me.

I FINALLY AM ABLE TO RUN FOR 1 HOUR STRAIGHT!!! I accomplished this today, running at 5 mph for the first 50 mins, then the last 10 minutes I ran for 5.5 mph!!! it felt sooooo good. I ran 8.5 kilometers today. my goal is to make it to 10 K in under an hour.
from running for 20 minutes to 60 minutes- all it took was running 3 times a week over a 2 month period and voila!!

hi all
after 14 weeks of cardio training (treadmill) and counting calories, I have been finally able to run 50 mins straight on the treadmill on speeds 7 to 8 and 3% incline. it helped me go from 182 lb (38" waist) to 156 lb (34" waist) (I am 5'9'' and 25 y/o). before that, I couldn't run for even 5 mins on speed 6.
also, I have just started using the elliptic machine (due to mild left knee pain) two weeks ago and, thanks for the 14-week conditioning, this week I did 60 mins on level 16 for 5 straight days, burning (for me at least) an astonishing 920-960 cals per day.

I got out for five hours on the bike today: 83 miles, nearly 6000 feet of climbing. Last year, a ride like this had me suffering for about the last hour. Today, I only suffered for the last 20 minutes.
I guess that's an improvement!
Total burn for the day (including BMR): 6917 calories. I'm having trouble packing enough food in to have a reasonable deficit.

for my birthday... I went on a hike :-)
Last week I ran for 10 minutes straight. the next time I went to the gym I was able to run for 15 minutes straight! Yay!
YAY FOR EVERYONE! CONGRATS!
I had a tough running summer and not only did I gain back 10 lbs with all the humidity (I live in a valley) we had I had a hard time running more than 30 minutes doing 10 & 1. Now that Fall is at our door, I was able to run for 1h40mins on Saturday (13Km at a slow pace) and 30 mins on Sunday (5Km at a high pace) for a total of 18Km in 2 days and 31km for the entire weej.
My mother and I are even contemplating at maybe trying out the half-marathon training program starting in January 2007 to be able to race the ING Ottawa Half-Marathon in May. Oh! and the weight in coming off again, yay!
Keep it up guys and girls!!

I was able to move up to week 2 of the couch-to-5k last night. I had been stuck on week one for 2 weeks, since I really was sedintary before I started, and it was pretty intense for me to start exercising again. Baby Steps!
