What came of the work situation??

Ooooh don't ask it's evil and im very grumpy about it .... basically im having to turn into a very good lier to keep my job it sucks because its just not in my nature, im usually very open about everything but i guess that what got me into this trouble.

Ok a Question to those in the “know”.

The other day i Posted about my trainers “food” advice, because i was worried she was trying to get me to eat too much.

http://caloriecount.about.com/forums/post/108 121.html

Now the general impression i got from the post was that mostly people thought i could/should be eating more than i am, so this week i’ve made an effort to increase my calorie intake abit figuring to increase it by 100cals per day, per week.  See how my body adjusted to it. So this week i’ve eaten between 1,600-1,800per day depending on my activity.

However !!!! baring in mind that last week i still thought i was at about 22% body fat i still thought i had a fair way to go losing, however this week’s body fat test + the tape measure have both confirmed im much much closer to my goal than i previously thought. (Funny how we can never see these things ourselves.. i was convinced i was getting no-where fast but even my hubby says im being dumb and look great)

So suddenly im in a position to consider maintaining which trust me is a scary thought.. Granted i still would like to lose maybe another 2-3% over all but im wondering if i eat for maintenance rather than for weight loss wouldn’t the remaining 2-3% come off naturally?? Because i have no intention of cutting down in the gym as i’ve learned to love it.

Im just thinking if aim to eat maintenance for my basic Activity level which is 1948.

http://www.phord.com/cc/?m=US&goal=maint& amp;a=1--1-1-1-1-&q=f-30-160.02-52.27-1.5 5-68.58-78.74-18

Then baring in mind i’m still skipping, walking playing ball with the kids etc which aren’t accounted for on top of the weight training and cardio... i’d probably still would end up with a small deficit each week?? Right??

I just figure im in a sort of position now where i’m not in a mad rush to lose the remaining belly fat so perhaps it’s time to start thinking about turning what i’ve learnt on this site into a healthy and permanent lifestyle rather than just a temporary diet.

So I’m thinking if I eat the 1948 every day (which still seems a hell of a lot) and watch how my weight and body fat holds i can then tweak it up of down depending on how my body copes???  That way when i work out what i truly maintain on, i can tweak it depending on my goals at the time, as ultimately I’d like to gain a bit more muscle and drop to 15-16% fat.

Sound reasonable??

Sounds very reasoanble to me, yep - you know that increased energy turnover in your body is associated with increased leanness, even in a nominal calorie balance on account of the thermic effect of feeding and rates of protein synthesiz/enzyme activity. So maintaining at a high energy turnover should let you grow leaner - at a slower rate than dieting would, but yeah, your activity level outside of formal exercise is high enough that you'll probably have a calorie deficit even at that level.

And yup, that's the way to do it - test and tweak and see how your body responds ;)

Great!!!! ... So where can i buy a cream cake around here??? now that im not offically dieting haha.

That's excellent! Congrats! :D

I want to decrease my body fat percentage too. How did you do it?

Mostly i ate clean (cuttng out everything processed), cut back on dairy and cut processed carbs like white bread, pasta etc and watched my carbs, i didn't cut them out or do anything like atkins but i cut them back a fair bit so i wasn't eating such i huge amount and made sure the ones i was eating came from veg rather than heavy starches. While maintained a calorie deficit

Then I went the gym 5 days a week 3 days of Weightlifting 2 days of Hiit.

Doing that the number just kept steadily coming down as i built up some nice muscle mass, im not huge nor am i bulky but you can now see quite abit of definition in my arms and shoulders.

Awesome! Thanks! I'm already a very healthy eater (vegan), but i might have to cut down on carbs a bit.

(By the way, in my last post I mean't "decrease" not "degree." I went back and fixed my error. Man, I'm retarded.) :p
