i am new to the forum and would like to share my success.
i have been listing what i have been eating now for 2 months
my start weight was 276lbs 01/03/06 and goal is 238lbs 01/09/06.
i have recorded nearly all consumption that i have taken during this time. i have created i chart for daily intake, breakfast - lunch - dinner, writing down everything that was made and consumed totaling up calories + fat. The totals were 2000cal (max) & 72g fat (max). IF IT DOES NOT HAVE THE LABEL ON IT WITH VALUES DONT HAVE IT!!, Be in control of what is bought by being there or doing the groceries yourself. i have also made a list of all foods that is in the cupboards and have the cal + fat totals against them, for quick reference. I do not have any 1 single item that has more than 5g of fat, (some weighing + measuring is needed for this). the house now does not have any high in fat foods so i can take any items for any meal and have them without worrying about the content. I only keep totals now and do not need to worry about how much i am having, i eat regulary to keep away the cravings and exercise once a week for 1 hour. i think this lifestyle change of being in control of my food consumption is helping alot, i still have wine or beer occasionally and dont binge on alcohol anymore. Todays weight is 261lbs. woohoo!!

Congratulations! Terrific job. It's great to set small goals for yourself (like 10% of your current weight). Guys lose faster than the girls too (so we get jealous of you guys), so that's good news for you. Just don't forget to stick with the healthy eating habits once you've reached your goal weight. Good luck!
that's great, michaeljb. what was your goal date again? doesn't quite add up the way you have it listed. either a different month, or a different year?
anyway, it looks like you are doing great! i've not heard of anyone keeping a list of the foods in their cupboard--that's amazing. i more or less refer to my food log here to help me remember some good things i need to shop for. just wondering, why are you writing eveything down instead of entering it here on the website?

my goal dates are march to september..
i started listing when i first began, and found this website when i was looking for some calories/fat counts, the lists help my wife prepare meals also without her getting too bogged down in figures. the cupboard lists help to match foods and quickly add them up. i feel if i make too much of the adding up it will eventually get me down. I dont really miss out on any foods i just combine low fat meals totaling less than 30g of fat per day. If the types of foods i buy now cannot reach my totals set then eventually i might be able to stop counting (wont do that just yet).
if by posting all the foods consumed with cal/fat counts here will help me or others i will be glad to do so.
