I was researching pasta and came across this site:

http://www.miraclenoodle.com/zone.html?gclid= CPW56-6RwZkCFQXGsgodrxPutw

Has anyone heard of or tried this Miracle noodles? They said its "

"made of naturally water soluble fiber with no fat, sugar, or starch.
* contain zero net carbohydrates and zero calories, no gluten -made of a healthy natural fiber called Glucomannan."

I love pasta (wheat) but it would be great to have pasta with ZERO calories.

Love them!  I like the regular spaghetti shaped ones and have determined that for me, they are better if they have sat in a sauce for an extended period of time.  On their own, the noodle has no flavor and a different texture - but they absorb the flavor of the sauce and seasoning.  I have added them to stir-fry and pasta sauce.  I have not been able to find them anywhere locally - so I have to order them on-line, but they also go by the name of yam noodles at some stores.  I ordered my first packages from asiangrocer.com because I could get a smaller quantity to try.  Good luck.

thank you for your reply! Laughing i will try them

I eat them all the time.  My local asian market carries them for a LOT less than any other store.  I pay about $1.99 for each package, and I'll have about half the package.

My advice:  Rinse them WELL!!! :)

they are awesome!!!!!

Except theyre kept in a really gross fishy water package. so RINSE very very very very well. I boil them for a couple of minutes, just in case.

Kind of a weird texture, but you get used to it. I love making chicken alfredo with it yummm

I look everywhere for those!!!  Where can I find them?  Does anyone who live in the Chicago area know where to get them?

Oh man, do you ever have to wash these.  I made the mistake of only a rinse the first time... Not doing that again.

With sauce these are pretty good.  They are a different texture than a lot of people are used to, but they're okay.  (They remind me of thin udon, in a weird way).

They are kinda funky, I personally would rather go for just wheat noodles or skip noodles all together, not a huge fan....

I tried them and personally thought they were gross. I ditto what the previous poster said. I would eat wheat or not eat them at all. But some people like them so doesn't hurt to try them out.

I ate the spaghetti type and loved them!  The fettuccine type looked kind of slimy which is why I opted for the spaghetti kind.   I proudly ate the whole package (80 calories!!!).

k-loo, I don't live in Chicago, but I found mine in the produce section of a regular grocery store (Albertson's) where the tofu is located.

Hi,

Does anyone know if i could get this anywhere in the UK? or will i have to order from the US?

me2me:  Here is a link for you www.asianfoodgrocer.com -That's the best I can do.

okay ill check it out...thank you!

I buy the House brand shirataki noodles all the time. I actually had them tonight.  I like the angel hair and the spaghetti ones better than the fettucini.   I eat them all the time mixed with veggies and chicken and low cal, low fat sauce.  Visit hungrygirl.com and search for them for recipes.  The "girlfredo" sauce made with laughing cow cheese, lite sour cream and parmesan is really delicious too.

I buy them at Whole Foods, if you have that in the windy city.

hi joy,

I just picked up a pack of this noodle you can find them in a gluten free store or in a store that carries atkins products, you dont have to buy it on line or for that price, my package is made by House foods its called tofu shirataki and it is made of soy. Distributed by House Foods America Corporation, Garden Grove CA. 92841   www.house-foods.com  I bet you can find a local dealer you can get it from. I will let you know how they taste when I try them

I tried the thin noodles and didn't like them :(

I have tried some of these noodles. They are used in making an Japanese dish called "shabu, shabu." I found them at my local Asian Grocery store and I live in a pretty small town, so I would guess they would be relatively easy to come by in larger cities. Just search your yellow pages for Asian Grocers. Then call and ask if they carry "Shiratake" (sheer-uh-tockey) noodles. The packages I have purchased also say "Yam" noodles. Ditto to what everone else says about the liquid in the package. I think they are packaged in brine which is pretty fishy smelling. Just rinse them well several times. They are a pretty slimey consistency, but I still thought they were good. They definitely seem to soak up some of the flavor from the sauce you put them in.

joyhorvath -

The "girlfredo" sauce made with laughing cow cheese, lite sour cream and parmesan  sounds like a great recipe! I'm going to check out that site. Thank you for the tip. :-)

I ordered them online from Konjac Foods. They got them to me quick and were really cheap. The ones that you get from authentic Asian markets and online are the 100% fiber, no calorie kind. Ones you can get in Whole Foods or other stores like that that are labeled shirataki noodles actually contain some food, like soy flour or something else that gives them a little substance and therefore some calories. I've only tried the 100% yam fiber noodles and they're really filling! If anything they're good for getting extra fiber into your diet, help with digestion and detoxification. :)

I do eat wheat noodle but i want to try them.  thanks i hope i can find them in the world foods market. I went to two asian stores and either stores had the noodles.

Me2Me: you can buy Shirataki noodles online from the UK at Japanese Kitchen:

http://japanesekitchen.co.uk

They're £1.78 a pack (plus P+P)

Literally just found a grocery that sells this in Brooklyn, NY.  I bought 8 packs for $1.49.  I haven't tried them yet but I've read that it really is about how you prepare them. I am a heavy seasoner so I'm not worried about the flavor.  I can't wait to try it!
