Does anyone eat these? They're only 40 calories for a whole BAG of them! (two servings) I guess they're made out of tofu?
I haven't tried them yet but I was wondering if anyone has a tasty recipe to go with them?
You can also get a spiral slicer; they're pretty nifty. I found mine at a store in Chinatown; you can probably find them online pretty cheap or at most kitchen stores.
Basically, you put a vegetable in, crank the handle, and out come vegetable 'noodles.' When you put sauce over them, it's actually hard to tell they're vegetables, especially if you use zucchini, since it doesn't have much of a flavor on it's own. If you peel the green off of the zucchini, you can actually fool your kids into eating it in their pasta; they won't be able to tell it is made of vegetables.
If you're making pad thai, crank a daikon radish through there and maybe some carrots; those 'noodles' seem to vibe really well with the pad thai flavors.
You can eat the veggie noodles alone, or mix them in with regular noodles, whatever you prefer. It's just a really cool way to get more veggies without noticing it, and replace some existing calories in dishes that would otherwise be calorically dense (alfredo, anyone?).
