Was shocked i actually fit in a "regular" size (not the plus side clothes!!) :)

I am not believing i went to Cato yesterday and normally went over to the plus size dept. well i was looking for a new top to wear to a baby shower.  My mom of course is thin and she went to regular size side and she said they had an XL size over there that looked like it would fit me.  Well i was like yeah right, so i went in tried it on and it fit!! I asked the sales clerk what size it really is because i told her the lowest size on plus side is a 14/16 and she coudlnt even tell me what size an xl was on the other side!! I wonder what size an xl on the regular side is?? I was shocked though!!

From what I've seen, an xl is a 12/14.

I dropped from 1X to XL last fall, and I remember well how excited I was. :)

Oh cool!! I always thought it might be a 13/14!! I used to be in that in high school!! :)  I used to wear a 22 in women's on the plus side.  I actually didnt even think about going to the regular side!! LOL

I remember the day I crossed over to the 'other' side....I had tears in my eyes!  WTG GIRL!  I guess all that hard work is finally paying off! 

I used to wear a 24 on plus side so when I hit 12, it was time for happy dance!

I always thought an XL was an 16-18. Atleast thats what some of the tags say if they include the number sizes. Its so hard to tell though because all stores use different size charts

Sizes vary a lot when you get S/M/L/XL  If you get Juniors XL it sometimes can be like S/M in womens.  Usually XL equals 16/18. 

Way to go on being able to buy something in the regular section!  That's awesome, keep up the great work!

Congratulations! I got a big kick out of being able to switch from 'plus-sized' shirts and skirts to XL... I have no idea what size they actually are though - it seems to vary from store to store.

The clothing size converter says that in US sizes 2x = 20, 1x =18, XL/1x = 16, and L/XL = 14. If you're comparing to Australia or the UK, the US sizes are a couple of sizes larger, which is confusing! I'd have to get down to a 'large' to be an Australian size 16 again (and the scary thing is that apparantly at my fattest here, I would have been entirely OUT of clothes sizes THERE! Ack!)

Thanks haley, i did drink water going to the shower today and was really too excited to eat when i got there!! Too nervous.  I threw the shower for my niece with my other niece!! I was running around like a chicken without her head on!! LOL  :)  I just picked at the buffet. We had a fruit tray, veggie tray, and crackers and chicken salad  i fixed a small plate but only could eat a little bit i was so excited.  Then when everything slowed down i went and had a SMALL piece of shower cake.  It was so good.  I have just wanted to drink fluids since i have been at home today!! I just got home about an hour ago.  She had a nice shower by the way!! She got alot of nice stuff.  It's her first baby.  She's having a boy.  She will be a single mother.  Its sad but i know with her friends and family she will be a great mommy.  Thanks everyone!!

Um... I used to be in a 16 and that was an XL.  I think that 16-18 is XL, 12-14 is a L and 8-10 is M or something like that.  lol, just wear what fits, I hate getting all wrapped up in the numbers, lol.

I've often been able to fit into an xl shirt, depending on the store, but I haven't been able to fit into any regular pants for a long time!  BUT, I have some size 14 pants that I squeeze into now....I wouldn't wear them outside of the house yet (can you say muffin top?) but I"m getting close!!!

I can't wait until I can shop in the regular stores and say goodbye to plus sizes forever!

First of all-- YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! for being able to shop on "the other side".   I can occasionally find stores and shop in the misses section (Old Navy comes to mind and Target). 

To the other reason that I was writing:  I used to work for Cato..  I worked there for 3 years when I was in college.  Their "Other Side" is a Misses department (not Juniors) and the XL equates to a 16/18.  Their small is a 4/6, Medium is 8/10, Large 12/14 and XL is 16/18. 

I could sometimes SQUEEZE into their pants on the Misses side back in college (b/c I have no hips)...  I need to go see if I am back on that side again.  I haven't been in a Cato in forever...  not my favorite place after those 3 years, lol!

Ain't it Grand!  I still find myself going to the plus size racks, then stopping and asking my self what am I doing here.  My next goal is a single digit size.  Keep up the good work. 

Someone mentioned Muffin top.  I had never heard that expression before until 2 weeks ago.  A bus driver pointed that out to me and a friend.  How does one squeeze all that extra weight into a size 6 or 8 pair of pants, when they are obviously NOT.  Another mystery of the universe.  Btw, the bus driver and my friend said it was gross.  Along with the droopy pants that guys wear.  I don't think their underwear is sexy.  Maybe I'm just old fashioned, but it's offensive to me.  Again, good job.  Keep it up.

Good for you! You'll remember that moment for a long time. I can't wait until the day I get to "go over to the other side". On that day there will be a parade and fireworks and balloons and...sorry, my mind started to wander...I'm so happy for you!

Hey i will take a 16/18 over a 22 womens anyday!! LOL  The ladies there didn't even know what sizes the "other side" was!! Thanks for all the congrats!! I am really trying hard.  I would love to shop at the 5-7-9 shop!! That would be so cool!!
