A neighbor told me about a new kind of exercise shoe (she said she saw it on Dr. Phil or something) that has a high heel and you kind of have to learn to walk in it. She said they sell for around $150 pair but the people who've tried it said that in a short amount of time they've lost more weight and inches.

I've never heard of this but if it works that good I may be quite interested. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

i hardly think a shoe can help you lose weight.

try exercising instead-it's free.

Are you talking about those sandals that are supposed to give you a "work out" while you walk?

Yeah... because of their outrageous claims, they went under a LOT of scrutiny and the shoes were tested and tested.

MAYBE they burned more calories because people were unbalanced while walking in them... but the general consensus was that simply walking an extra few minutes would be a lot better than spending 150 dollars on them.

Weird, they've kinda disappeared from the media lately...

My doctor told me to walk on my 'toes' to exercise my stomach muscles, as well as my back muscles - this creates a 'tension' in the body, that tones, as well as pits one muscle against another...it appears one 'loses' weight only because they're 'toned and tight'.

Obviously, the 'harder' it is to walk, a few more calories will be burned.

You can walk in the sand; get a wonderful work-out if the sand is very LOOSE.

Try doing the 'walk on the toes' as my doctor told me to do - I got rid of my back-pain, and improved my posture as well.

there is a shoe that has a small round ball on the sole. This causes you to have to balance or rock slightly at all times, thus burning more calories. They sell them near the basketball sneakers in most sports stores.
Sounds like a cheap (expensive?) gimmick to me. If all you had to do to lose weight was to walk around on your toes, there wouldn't be a fat young woman in the western world.

I didn't see the show but I own a pair of MBT's - they are supposed to correct posture, use muscles in your legs not normally used when walking, etc.  They cost more than $150.00 though, and I've had them for about a year - can't say I've seen any difference.

I only wear them at night when I walk my dog as they are not the most attractive shoes on the planet!

Here's the link to their main site, but you can usually purchase them at any high end shoe store

i just watched a programme that featured these shoes! 101 women wore them for 4 weeks and each lost on average of 1.4 inches from their bums, they didn't change anything else in their lifestyles so looks like they can work

lifeizsweet - wow - that's amazing - maybe I would need to wear them all day - not just for walks.  The only problem is they are so ugly, people would be giving me weird looks, or would think I had something wrong with my feet and had to wear special shoes hehe  - that wouldn't be worth it for me!
There are also some boots with a "negative heel".  The toes are higher than the heels, so it is supposed to be like walking on a treadmill.

I will just stick with the treadmill.
