So, I've recently started a diet again, and instead of just limiting my calorie intake, I have decided to actually do some exercise alongside of it. However, I don't have any exercise equipment except for a jump rope and a yoga mat. I can't seem to find the motivation to go to a gym (although my university gives me free membership with my expensive tuition).

So, I've found that shopping has been my motivation and exercise lately. However, it's getting so expensive! Ha! I've decided to go to thrift shops and such, but it really is good motivation and exercise. I've also tried walking my dog and going to a park as other walking exercise. The jump rope seems to be a real calorie burner, so I've also been doing that.

Is there any other good exercise routines that I can do that aren't really involved in ... traditional exercising methods? What are some of yours?

i live in an co-op complex.  so laundry.  i have to carry the cart down the stairs to the laundry center, make a separate trip to the garage to lug several bottles of detergent to the washers.  after loading the washers/dryers, i go back upstairs to take out garbage, cook, check in w/this website, etc.  then i have to carry the cart back up the stairs, make the bed, etc.  that's 4real work.

chasing little cousins around, frisbee w/friends, these are good too.  ever go to the beach and work hard at a sand castle?  how about painting the ceiling in your room.  i highly recommend volunteering w/a local group/organization:  an animal shelter, food kitchen, small farm, garden club, zoo, performing arts troupe.

I don't have a car and there isn't a bus to the supermarket so I have 20 minute walk to the nearest one, plus carrying the bags back.  If I want something special, I have to walk for 30 or 40 minutes to the nicer supermarkets.  So if you can walk to the supermarket, that is a way to sneak exercise in.   Going to the library is exercise too, not because it is far, only 10-12 minutes walk, but I am PhD student so I am hauling at least 10 books at time when go there and I have to go up and down the stairs for my building and for the library.
